Description
–
A Heat Recovery Ventilator is a complete whole house ventilation system that incorporates a supply motor and an exhaust motor in one unit. It is designed to bring a continuous supply of fresh air into the home while exhausting an equal amount of contaminated air. HRVs use what is known as a "sensible" heat recovery core. The special aluminum core transfers heat from the exhaust air stream to the incoming air stream. Fresh incoming air is tempered by the heat that is transferred from the outgoing air so you save on energy costs.
HRVs are designed for colder areas of the country that have longer heating seasons as well as drier desert areas of the South.

nice compact unit
I ordered my unit the day after Christmas , and received my shipment in less then 24 hrs. Wow!! that was incredible . Unit is very quit, and can be hard piped with 4 inch pvc pipe for a clean install ( insulate intake pipe ). My home has been remodeled , and spray foamed walls , new windows. using this exchanger has eliminated moister on my windows here in Michigan.

High quality item, quiet operation.
Product is not cheap, but seems to be high quality. The fans operate rather quietly. I am using it to exchange air in my basement and it took care of the stale and musty smell.

Quiet unit, works well
Unit is compact. Needs 12+ inches above the top for duct connections. A bucket for the drain is sufficient so far here in Nh cold climate. Unit is very quiet. I used 4 inch metal pipe for duct and it is delivering very good airflow.

Q: I recently purchased a VHR704 HRV fan to install in my home. I am a little confused about system balancing. The spec sheet states that “no balancing is required”, while the installation manual has a whole section devoted to balancing airflow. Is airflow balancing required with this unit, and if not, then why not?

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffAccording to the manufacturer, this unit does not require balancing because it comes balanced from the factory. No further balancing is needed because of the small amount of air exchange.
