Description

Gas and oil heating appliances generate heat through the combustion of fuel. The heat is transferred through the heat exchanger and distributed to the conditioned space. The products of combustion, however, must be vented safely out of the structure. In a conventional chimney, venting is achieved by the natural lifting action of the hot combustion gas. New, efficient systems absorb more of the heat in the heat exchanger and produce lower temperature vent gas. Lower temperature gas does not rise as quickly or as reliably as in older, less efficient systems. Power venting or sidewall venting is more economical and safer than chimney venting. A power venter uses a motorized blower to vent the products of combustion. A power venter is interlocked with the appliance to ensure that proper draft is achieved before the appliance burner is activated.

Features
  • Patented SWG or ComboVent Power Venters are ETL and cETL listed for all LP gas, natural gas, or oil-fired heating equipment. The SWG or ComboVent combines the motor, blower, and vent hood in one complete, easy to install unit. The SWG mounts on the outside of the building and pulls the combustion gases from the appliance through the outside wall utilizing 100% negative pressure. Benefits of the SWG or ComboVent Power Venter include:
  • 100% negative pressure in the vent pipe for maximum safety.
  • Standard galvanized pipe can be used instead of expensive stainless steel.
  • No need to seal vent pipe joints, saving time and money.
  • Significantly longer vent lengths than positive pressure, direct vent systems.
  • The SWG or ComboVent is recommended by major heating appliance manufacturers.
  • The SWG or ComboVent must be sized to match the appliance or appliances' input firing rate. Most firing rates are published in the manufacturer's installation manual. The SWG and ComboVent must be installed with a CK Control Kit to ensure proper listing and safe, efficient venting.

Excellent price and customer service

I purchased this Power Venter after the old one started failing a few weeks ago for about $40 less than the closest competitor. It was on my doorstep in just a couple of days. I installed it myself and my furnace tech who came out a week later for cleaning and tuning said it was a good product, being stainless steel and having sealed bearings. He said the install was perfect. I saved myself another couple hundred dollars doing it myself, it was easy and took me about 2 hours taking my time. I was nervous and had my doubts in the beinning of this project, but when it was over I was thoroughly proud of myself, so my wife pointed out after showing her my work. Looks great, quiet, and easy to install - thank you Supply House! Now I get to install my buddy's PV since I'm now the expert and his wife doesn't trust him.

If I had achoice I would not buy it again

The Supply House did a great job getting the product to me but was not happy with the venter. It is noisier than the one I replaced. It gives off a sound like a base drum when it is running.

Great service, good price, very efficient

See comments in headline. Also very easy to work with as we had to return the product due only to misinformation on our part. No restocking fee and credit was issued promptly upon receipt of return.

Quality dropped.

Not only was outer metal banged up, inside it was assembly was sloppy and crooked. Still installed out of necessity, will see if it holds up.

Q: I'm looking to build a deck that will go over this vent... If I build in a grate above it, will that be sufficient to vent the heat and moisture during the winter without rotting the deck?

According to the manufacturer, there are no codes for anything above the power venter since it blows down and out. The only requirement they would have is that the deck is completely open for air communication.

My vent is 15 feet from the Side of my deck and I cant stand the smell from there. DO NOT install it under your deck. You will be sorry.

Part SWG-5 is the entire power venter. SWG-5RMK is the replacement motor.

I believe this is the full unit price- just check the model number. The motor itself has its own code and will not appears as just SWG-5

Q: I must replace the motor etc on my old (18 years) SWG-5 power venter. I now know I need to replace the whole venter and not just the motor. OK, so will my existing CK still be compatible with the new venter? And, do you ship to Canada? Thanks again in advance

You can use the same control as long as it is still working.

Q: What's the difference between SWG-4HD and SWGII-4HD? I have a SWGII-4HD. Also, do you have just the motor mount housing (the screen part and the cover)or I have to buy the whole system? thanks

After 15 years, the manufacturer decided to remove the 'II' from the model number of the SWGII-4HD power venter. The new model number is the SWG-4HD. We sell the whole unit and replacement motors, but not the cover and screen by themselves.

The blower wheel, which could be referenced as the fan blades, can be replaced rather than replacing the entire unit. The blower wheel replacement part would be SKU: 46310400.
