Fits 3" nominal pipe/tube (3-1/8" actual O.D.) insulated with 1/2" wall thickness. This steel strut-mount coupling is sized to the pipe's true outside diameter - not its nominal trade size - for a snug, gap-free fit over the insulation. Outside Diameter (O.D.) vs. Nominal Size: O.D. is the exact physical measurement across the pipe or tube's exterior - the sizing method used for HVAC, refrigeration (ACR), and copper tubing (e.g., 3-1/8" O.D. tubing measures exactly 3.125" across). Nominal size, by contrast, is a trade designation for iron, steel, or CTS copper pipe that approximates the inside diameter rather than the true outer edge - for standard CTS copper pipe, actual O.D. is always 1/8" larger than the nominal size (e.g., 3" Nominal = 3-1/8" O.D.).
