I seem to replace these screens every humidification "season"...if not more often. These newer units fit the bottom of the tank like glove, and do a pretty good job keeping the drain valve free of large chunks of calcium that grows on the heating coil...and then flakes off. I clean my humidifier tank every 30 days regardless, but the screen really does a nice job avoiding the "Cleaning Required" light on the front of the unit. The screen itself does seem to 'grow' calcium deposits quite readily, but a little soak in C-L-R does the trick. That and some scrubbing and a good final wash with some dish detergent and it's ready to go back into the tank. Just remember that you get a new sediment screen with the purchase of a new tank!

Cleaning the sediment screen is a royal pain. This product is much better than trying to clean it.
