RedLINK Internet Gateway

I bought this thermostat kit with other Honeywell optional add-ons such as the wireless indoor sensor and the internet gateway. The EIM was hard wired into the furnace by a professional when I had my furnace installed. I was able to handle the rest. The wireless "RedLINK" signal strength is strong enough to communicate with all of the wireless sensors, even at 100' distance. The "RedLINK" wireless frequency makes this product almost too easy to easy to setup since no wiring is necessary to communicate with the sensors. The accuracy of the wireless sensors is amazing, including the outdoor air sensor. The wireless indoor sensors are optional, but I highly recommend them since the temperature they individually measure is averaged out by the thermostat which ensures an even temperature throughout the house. Without the wireless air sensors I was able to measure a 3 degree temperature difference from the area around my thermostat and the room furthest from the thermostat. The programming options of the thermostat are highly configurable and provides a highly manageable way to maximize the energy consumption of any heating/cooling element attached to it. Finally, the RedLINK Internet Gateway is truly an awesome luxury. Although the thermostat is already highly programmable, the gateway gives you the ability to remotely turn off/on your heating and cooling system from any computer with an internet connection or using the Honeywell mobile phone app. Its fantastic to have the capability to turn on your heater or AC from you mobile phone and have your house be at just the right temperature when you arrive!

I spent over an hour trying to figure out why my RedLINK Internet Gateway would not link to my Honeywell thermostat when I was following Honeywell's instructions to the letter. Only after searching various internet sites did I come across a comment that led me to success. Hint: You have to press the EIM button on a heater already linked to the thermostat before attempting to link the Gateway. This step is missing from the instructions that come with the Gateway. Once I had figured out how to do it, I was able to link 4 thermostats spread throughout my home without a problem. And after two weeks things are still running smoothly.
