Overview:

K-FLEX® INSUL-LOCK® DS (DoubleSeal) is a flexible closed-cell elastomeric insulation tube product used to conserve energy and prevent condensation on piping applications. It is pre-slit with a factory-applied pressure sensitive modified-acrylic adhesive with scrim reinforcement on the seam surface and a flexible PVC overlap tape with acrylic adhesive for doubled seam security. The system reduces installation time and costs, and ensures a strong, durable seal.

The product's closed-cell structure creates exceptional thermal properties (k-value of 0.245 at 75°F and wvt of 0.03 perm-in) that protect against moisture penetration in applications within a -40°F to +220°F temperature range.

K-FLEX® INSUL-LOCK® DS is widely used for its cold weather flexibility, durable skin surface, exacting manufacturing tolerances and lasting performance. It is available in 6’ lengths in wall thicknesses ranging from 3/8”* to 2”.

K-FLEX® INSUL-LOCK® DS is non-porous, non-fibrous and resists mold, fungal and bacterial growth. For added protection, it is protected with an EPA-approved antimicrobial agent.

K-FLEX® INSUL-LOCK® DS is GREENGUARD® certified under the Children and Schools classification, is approved through supervision by the Factory Mutual Research Corporation, and is 25/50-rated when tested to ASTM E 84 standards.

Adhesive failed to hold within 24 hours

The 1-1/2" pipe insulation matched the 1-1/2" pex pipe dimensions on the heating pipes in the crawl space, and the adhesive tape on the insulation edges made the initial installation quick and easy. However, the adhesive joint failed to stay together within 24 hours with long gaps opening up to 2" wide. I had to install duct tape along most of the seams to keep the pipe insulation together. It took too much effort to install both insulation and then duct tape to consider using this product again.

Crumbled under heating temperatures

I installed this insulation in 2022. I took some out in 2026 and it had all crumbled and much of it had become brittle. Working temperatures never exceeded 180F.

Great product, Service and Shipping 5 *****

I needed to replace the liquid line insulation on my a/c here in Florida. Ours was breaking down after about 7 years and this was the right product at the right place along with a fair price. I'd like to thank them for the quick shipping as well. I'll be back when I need one of your products.

I would buy this product again.

I used this product to insulate a riding lawn mower fuel line from engine heat, which was causing vapor lock and stopping the engine until it cooled.

Easy Install / Good Quality Insulation

I used this Pipe Insulation for our hydronic baseboard heating system. Insulation is good/better quality and very easy to work with. Comes with adhesive that instantly seals in place. Used in both interior and outside crawlspace areas for protection and efficiency.

Product was OK but packaging was horrible

I did not care for the protective film covering adhesive strips on insulation. It was cheap and did not peel off in one piece. The packaging of the insulation add tremendous time to the installation. The insulation comes from the manufacture in long boxes to keep the product straight but when shipped from Supply House warehouse, it was rolled into balls and shoved into a smaller, rectangular box; which made it very difficult to work with. The baseboard element that was also ordered was the same length and the insulation SHOULD have been shipped in the same straight boxing. Very disappointing and frustrating when loosing money

Supple product, dynamic adhesives!

This is the insulation you've been looking for. It's very supple and easy to form, it will stretch and the glue will hold! Worth every cent.

Flexible, Strong Adhive, but didn't have the flap shown

This is a high-quality flexible pipe insulation. The adhesive that bonds the insulation together is stronger than the foam so no "second chances" if you don't have the surfaces properly aligned. As long as you remove the adhesive strips when you have the sides aligned it works well. My only complaint is that the picture shows a fold-over flap on the surface of the insulation, but the insulation I received did not have the flap as shown in the picture. No time to investigate or return so I'm not positive if the 5/8 OD, 3/8 Wall insulation should have the flap or if I received the wrong product.

Q: dear sir i am looking to replace the rotting A/C insulation on my home systems tubing but not sure which size i need? are all home A/C units standard? thanks

The tubing for the A/C units are not standard sizes. The tubing is usually dependent on the manufacturer, model and size of your A/C unit. This is the largest line insulation we sell so it will most likely work in your application. It may be a little loose on the lines but you would be able to zip tie the insulation down to the tubing.
