fabrication is good but flange not wide enough
The material and fabrication of the product is good. The damper is also good. The screen was loose out of the box and needed to be tucked back in to place. Mechanically fastened at the top but not bottom. Not animal proof imo.
The main issue I have with the vent is the flange width. It measures 1 5/8" at the top, 1 7/8" on the sides, and 3" at the bottom. The flange width should be min. 3" all around to help prevent leaks. Anytime you have to rely solely on sealant for water tightness, you are asking for trouble. I will extend the flanges with self stick membrane. Also, the is no starting collar on the bottom to attach 7" duct, it's just a square opening. You will have to cut a fairly precise round hole in the roof sheathing and then affix the duct to the sheathing by bending tabs or by adding a separate starting collar. Overall something I can work with but it could be improved. Maybe even include a few membrane strips for the top and side flanges.
