Description
–
McDonnell & Miller Universal Water Feeders are ideal for
use in residential or small commercial applications.
Versatile and compact, they are easily installed to operate
with either a probe- or float-type low water cut-off. The
feeders are always ready to add water when given the
signal from the LWCO - no need to manually add water.
And they protect the boiler from a dry fire condition by
maintaining a safe minimum water level in the boiler
should a system leak occur. They monitor the water level,
maintaining a safe minimum and allow the boiler water line
to rise and fall naturally through its normal operating range.

I decided to add this to my boiler when replacing the low water cutoff. It is a very simple process, made easier by the clear, concise instructions that accompanied it. Adding this unit eases a bit of stress when we are out of town in winter, not having to worry if the boiler will run low on water while we are away. Works like a charm.

Helps stop overfeeding your boiler
Relatively easy to install, but keep in mind you will have to do some soldering and/or re-piping.
Was recommended this by the factory to address one of our property's boiler overfeeding (too much water in the boiler caused by the steam not returning fast enough).
GREATEST THING: You can delay the time before water feeds into your boiler by up to three minutes -- great idea...

Workhorse steam boiler auto feeder
Most oil-fired steam boilers have a 120 volt low water cutoff, therefore they require a 120 volt water feeder. Make sure to match boiler size to water feeder orifice (see instructions), and set time delay dip switches to allow for steam condensate returning to boiler to equalize upon low water signal to feeder. Barebones feeder with no meter to gauge amount of water fed.
