saved a lot of money
So in a recent cold snap my 17 year furnace failed to heat. Cold air blowing. So I grabbed my multi-meter and determined that the voltage on one side of the nichrome was good and the other was good on one side of thermal limit switch and na-da on the other side -- it was permanently in the "cutout" state.
I ordered the part, took < 5 minutes to install. Heat restored. Total cost < $20. Service call would have been 10x-20x with a likely outcome of "you know oughta just replace a 17yo furnace..."
