OPERATION
FV-10VEC1 is recommended for areas where temperatures are -22°F (-30°C). When the outdoor temperature is < -22°F (-30°C), the defrost cycle is initiated and the product will stop operating for 47 minutes, then operate in heat exchange mode for 4 minutes in order to sample the outdoor temperature. It then operates in circulation mode for 9 minutes in order to defrost (exhaust and supply air are 50 CFM). Defrost cycle overrides the ASHRAE 62.2 timing function.

COST EFFECTIVE, CODE COMPLIANT ERV FOR ANY CLIMATE ZONE
Intelli-Balance™ 100 is a customizable, high performance, high efficiency Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) that’s designed to help you meet ASHRAE 62.2 requirements. This unique and cost effective ERV was engineered for total versatility and installation flexibility, in any climate zone. Built-in controls minimize the time it takes to determine desired airflow, as well as verify and maintain performance. Intelli-Balance 100 allows you to simply design and specify your ventilation system requirements, improve IAQ and reduce ventilation costs.

BALANCED VENTILATION
Tightly built homes and buildings utilizing exhaust only fans can create negative pressure. Intelli-Balance 100 solves this by supplying air to replace exhausted air, helping to balance air pressure within the home.

Panasonic Intelli-Balance 100 ERV uses four integrated dual 4” or 6” round duct adaptors – two to exhaust stale air and two to supply fresh air from outdoors. Its low, continuous run ensures volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) are vented out and replaced with fresh air.

Intelli-Balance 100 can be ceiling or on-wall mounted, does not require connection to the Central HVAC or the addition of a condensation line. This allows it to be installed in many places throughout the home to meet IAQ, health and comfort needs.

PICK-A-FLOW™ SPEED TECHNOLOGY
Intelli-Balance 100 includes a built-in Pick-A-Flow™ speed selector that provides the unique ability to select your required supply (50-60-70-80-90-100 CFM) and exhaust airflow (50-60-70-80-90-100 CFM), with the simple turn of a dial. This truly customizable airflow capability allows you to create balanced, positive or negative pressure within the home.

ASHRAE 62.2 TIMING FUNCTION
The adjustable Minutes Per Hour (Min/Hr) timer allows the user to set the number of minutes per hour the ERV should run. This ensures consistent and controlled ventilation throughout the day for compliance with ASHRAE 62.2. Factory default setting is 60 Min/Hr.

FILTERS & MAINTENANCE
Intelli-Balance 100 has two filters that clean the exhaust and supply air before passing through the ERV core, extending the life of the core. A hinged access panel allows for quick and easy product maintenance and filter checks. Convenient light indicator and unobtrusive alarm signal when it’s time to check and clean the filters. Both filters should be vacuumed with a soft brush attachment every 2-3 months, and the exhaust air filter should be replaced every 6 months to maintain the ERV’s peak performance.

WHOLE HOUSE ERV
Intelli-Balance 100 is a ceiling or wall mount Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) that’s ideal for meeting whole house ventilation requirements under ASHRAE 62.2. Intelli- Balance 100 is also an ideal choice when partnered with mini-splits or VRF Heat Pumps for fresh, balanced air with energy recovery which makes it a very affordable, cost-effective IAQ solution.

Ideal for: Single Family Homes (~2,000 Sq ft) / Condominiums / Apartments / Housing Authority Properties / Hotels / Studio apartments

ASHRAE 62.2 2010 AND 2013 STANDARD
The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) set a standard for whole house ventilation, requiring that continuous mechanical ventilation be 7.5 CFM per bedroom (master bedroom X 2) plus 1 CFM per 100 square feet, with sone not to exceed 1.0. ASHRAE 62.2-2013 requires a ventilation rate of 7.5 CFM per person plus 3 CFM per 100 square feet. Please check with your local code to determine which ventilation standard you should follow. Panasonic Intelli-Balance 100 ERV is an affordable, efficient way to meet the ASHRAE 62.2 standard.

Product works, but loud vibrations when 80 to 100cfm

Take into account the following: - This was a DIY for my 1940's house; ranch style. - my house is 1531 sq ft. - I add a HEPA filtration downstream the intake, after it has passed through the ERV just before distributing the air to the rooms. - This project was tedious as i installed the ductwork under a 4-12 pitch roof inside the attic and had to handle moving fiberglass insulation. The actual ERV unit was installed in a utility closet. - I sealed all protrusions that traversed between conditioned to unconditioned air with closed cell foam. Pros: 1. Efficiently transfers energy between exhaust and intake air as promised. I notice the fresh air is significantly warmer than outside when placing my hand on the adjustable diffusers mounted on the ceiling. 2. NOTICEABLY fresher air in house after 3 days of operation at the 40min per hour setting. 3. LESS COLD AIR. My house is warmer. This surprised me at first, but i'm guessing the explanation is that i no longer use my 100cfm and 80cfm exhaust fans in my house unless there is a real need. I used to let them run all night, i just let this ERV unit run now. This means i am not pulling cold air from the cracks and holes in my house. Instead, i save some of the heat versus just exhausting it out the ceiling through bathroom exhaust fans. I lowered my thermostat setting today to compensate. Cons: 1. Noisy if operating above 60cfm setting. Sounds like one of the motors is out of balance (exhaust motor). I am trying to figure this out, i will contact customer service soon for help. 2. Again, unacceptable loud. Vibrated so hard that you can hear loud low tone vibrations and humming through two (2) walls. The room behind the utility closet seems to amplify the humming and vibrations. I am considering rubber supports or some way of isolating the system from the wall i mounted it to. Install in a basement and isolate the unit from walls if you can, or at least add a vibration dampening mount system.

Some great features and technology but a few drawbacks.

Using this for an average size 3 bedroom/2 bath typical home, approx. 1500 sq. ft. of heated space. The instruction manual for this seems inadequate, several details are not discussed in my opinion as they should be, so be prepared to scratch your head a bit to figure things out like the need for a remote switch or a jumper wire to be installed to get the unit to power up. It is shown in the electrical schematic and briefly mentioned in text, but is not discussed as clearly as one would expect. Balancing of the unit is also not discussed well either, it is simple in concept but the text is misleading IMO. I installed as a separate from furnace dedicated system for highest efficiency and am using short runs of 4" metal ducting. The first unit had excessive air turbulence noise transmission through the fresh supply duct and Panasonic customer service was little help and was unprofessional for a company the size of Panasonic. Supply House stepped in and replaced the unit for me with no problems and the second unit was quieter. Another issue I just discovered is the pricing and lack of availability of replacement air intake filters, few people seem to stock the MERV8 or MERV13 options and these little filters are $35 and $40 respectively. It is early to tell how long these will last and this will vary of course, but mine needed to vacuum cleaned after just a few weeks of use so it looks like a potentially expensive maintenance Item until someone makes reasonably priced replacements. Although I am really enjoying the improvement in air quality and the build quality of the unit looks good, I cannot fully recommend this unit.

Fresh Air!

After adding on and residing my Montana cabin, it went from drafty to air tight - stale air tight. When I discovered the radon was also a problem, I started researching solutions and decided that an ERV (combined with a simple radon mitigation plan) would kill both birds with one stone. It has. I put in a stand alone system, since I use mini split cool and heat, backed up by wall heat. I ran 4 " "return" pipe to kitchen, bath, and basement, and put in cheap, unobtrusive, vents in each. Supply line is another 4" pipe run to the living room. Air is so much fresher, seems to be temperature adjusted, and the radon is way below limits. A tip: I am using this system in lieu of exhaust fans in bathrooms and kitchen. I don't want to run it 24/7 though. It requires a wall mounted shutoff switch, that would normally always be on. When that switch is on the unit can be set to run a fixed number of minutes per hour - I doing 20 min right now. I have run switches in the kitchen and baths, all in series, so if you want to start the ERV you just turn the switch off momentarily, and that resets the 20 minute timer, and vents the house immediately. I also bought the WhisperComfort wall cap. It is a high grade styrofoam Y that allows you to cut only one hole in the exterior wall. It seems to work great. Con: I hung the unit. It vibrates enough that I am in the process of getting automobile muffler rubber hangers to dampen the dull harmonic that passes up the chain to the joists. Also, it pushes enough air that you can hear it when it runs.
