FDI Floor Drop-In Heater (1,500 Watts - 240 Volt)

Bought this to replace an identical unit that was probably 40 years old. The old unit started causing melting connectors and the sensors had been replaced a handful of times and continued to melt. I dropped this in and so far seems to be working flawlessly. I will reevaluate it after winter use to ensure connector integrity. The unit runs 24/7 during dec-feb. For my 750sqft condo. I use a PTAC as secondary heat source.

Looks like the boxes were open and then re-labeled repackage and then shipped to my order. The boxes were previously opened and tinkered with everything seems to be working though, but the fact that it was a return, makes me uncomfortable to use it at first, but so far so good also, the fan blades were detached, and I had to reattach them is an awkward experience from last time when I ordered.

We have a vacation condo that receives light use in the winter and has two of these in floor heaters. They have been dependable. One started buzzing, and I found out that is a protective measure- when the temperature is too hot it starts buzzing. I was surprised to see that the same heater is still made, as ours must be 30 years old. it was great to find that the same heater is still made so that I could swap in the new. As I looked at the new heater, I saw that the fan was hitting the sheet metal shroud around it. The unit did not seem to have been damaged in shipping- the box was intact. I can only conclude that the sheet metal was not properly bent in the factory. I was not looking forward to returning the heater and getting a replacement, so I decided to see if I could bend the metal. I was able to bend it, so the fan turned freely with an adjustable wrench and a vise- grip. Plugged the unit in and it seems to work properly, although I will have to see how it functions for a longer time, since this is almost summer.

Heats the room in less than 10 minutes. Very low noice level.

Installed two of these and within three weeks both of them died. Heat turns on, but fan doesn't function. Called manufacturer and they are aware of the problem and have no solution. Said they would take my info and let me know when they have a solution. Great response in the middle of winter.

This heater was also installed to replace floor/wall gas heater in a 1938's house. Installed fine,instruction are so poorly composed and there is no clear information of installation or electrical breaker amps required. The wires that are on the little white plug are 12 gauge stranded so 10 gauge can't stranded for 240 volt can't be used. No information anywhere on line on this little heater and the amount of heat it produces is so poor. 2 stars because it IS quiet. Better installation instruction would be nice and Qmark/Marley should take a little more pride in their product by offering more information.

We ordered two of these drop in floor heaters to replace ancient ones in our living room. They were a fantastic upgrade, running quietly and not nearly as often. One of the two had a factory defect, however. I called the manufacturer and after emailing two pictures to a customer service agent, a new one was on its way to us without even having to return the original! We have 3 more to replace and I'll definitely buy them again!
