Built In Obsolence
I have had my boiler for 35 years and I am on my fourth Honeywell Aquastat. The first unit lasted for 25 years, but the last three only lasted for 2-3 heating seasons before the relay went out. The relay is a cheap piece of junk that would only cost about $3.00 if it were replaceable, but it is built in.

Three defective parts in a row
I've replaced this Aquastat three times in the last two months and the newest part is also defective and needs replaced. The relays in all of the Aquastat as have stuck open and overheated my boiler. The relay in the newest one also buzzes constantly. And now Supply House is giving me the run around about sending a replacement, despite it being under warranty for one year. Supply House is trying to tell me it's the wrong part and is trying to recommend a part that runs at too high a heat range which will overheat my boiler. I am tired of not only having to replace this part every week but of battling with Supply House regarding a replacement.

Q: I have a burnham boiler(pv8346-tbwn) with a honeywell L8124a1015 aquastat but have a separate hot water heater. Is this the right replacement for the 8124a1015 so the boiler only runs when there is a call for heat?

Q: In a previous question, you state that the difference between the L8148E1299 and the L8148E1265 are the operating ranges. The L8148E1299 has an operating range of 120 F to 240 F and 54 C to 116 C. The L8148E1265 has an operating range of 180 F to 240 F and 100 C to 133 C. Why would one ever buy the 1265 (180-240 deg F) over the 1299 (120-240 F) if that is the only difference?

Q: I have a boiler that has an Aquastat L8148E1216. It no longer controls the temp. Looking at the Honeywell site it is obsolete. It was an OEM Aquastat but its layout and wiring seem to be the same as the L8148E1265 & 1299. My range is 140 F to 240 F. I am thinking I can use an L8148E1299 as a replacement. This is on a Milwaukee Thermoflo boiler used for baseboard heating. Do you think the 1299 would be a good replacement?
