Good item to keep on hand
Over the years, the filter assembly that came with my Rinnai got a little mangled so I wanted to find a replacement. I've been searching for this item on-and-off for years and was finally able to get a valid part number. Since this is an OEM item, it is a direct replacement and there were no problems with it.

They fall apart.
I'm using these in three Rinnai C199 comercial heaters for heating brewery water. We run up to 3,000 gals/day through our units, so much higher use than any household will ever see.
The strainers have a plastic cage outside the stainless screen. This cage breaks down rather quickly (one fell apart after five days of use, see picture), which results in little plastic bits getting stuck in the flow meter of he flow control unit, requiring a tedious tear-down to get the bits out.
I'd recommend them solely because there is no alternative, other than finding s different brand of on-demand heater.
