Repair for 1960's Coleman wall heater

Was I need of a 100,000 btu gas valve for an old Coleman wall heater. I looked for several month to find a General Control MR-5 SC gas valve, but could not find one. Somewhere I stumbled on to a cross reference chart that indicated this valve was compatible. It fit and work well, but the installation required a lot of changes from the original configuration. I had to add a few bends and shortened the pilot piping. I also had to wire in a thermostat because this new valve requires a signal to turn on, unlikethe old valve that was 100% manual.

53 Yr old Wall heater Valve Quit.

When my 53 year old wall heater quit. It was a 7.5 milivolt valve 1/2 in 1/2 out. I called several Heat companies and they said that the valve was not available. The were right but there was a replacement and Pex had it. For under $100.00. It was a breeze to install. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . My other hall heater valve also was not working like it was supposed to. Pex found me a different replacement for it, but I decided to replace the whole wall heater instead. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I am 75 I hope it last another 30 years at least. Rich

Robertshaw is the leader in gas control

This is a Millivolt gas control meaning it requires no electricity . The control works from the small current (3/4 volt) created by a thermopile. This is a typical valve used in comerc. fryers, grills, resid. wall heaters & some unit heaters.

This is a millivolt valve and the thermopile connects with screw terminals on each wire end. If your existing valves is a millivolt type and uses terminals at the ends of the wires this will work. Some valves use a single coaxial thermopile connection 3/8" wrench. This valve is not that type.
