Description

The Rusco Hot Water Sediment Trapper Filter System can operate with water up to 200º F because of the glass filled polypropylene head that comes with female threads with a stainless steel reinforcing ring over the inlet/outlet. The filter screens are also a durable stainless steel, as well as a chemically resistant and heat resistant filter cover.

The Rusco Hot Water filter systems utilize centrifugal separation technology to filter particulates from the water, which is clearly visible through the clear filter cover. The lower bowl of the filter cover is able to capture larger sediment or particulates. The stainless steels screens can also be easily cleaned and reused over and over again.

Working as Intended

I used this to keep sediment from my older Indirect hot water heater from continuing to clog the fixtures in our house. Within days of Installation we started to see the sediment the filter was catching. I installed with threaded fittings directly to unit to go to pex supply lines. I really like the clear assembly to see it working and have knowledge of when to flush the filter. Not sure about the longevity just yet as this is a new install. Overall I'm very happy with the product.

How long will it last?

Purchased 1/20/23. Been in use 3 years. Traps sediment as advertised. However, the plastic/poly/whatever material used to make the body and filter housing is disingrating. First noticed it in the inside of the black filter body. Was cleaning it with a rag wrapped around a finger and a piece broke off where the filter slides up into the body. Today went to clean the filter and the filter is completely falling apart allowing sediment and pieces of the the filter to get into the water system. I'm using this on the hot water side of the water heater. I'm also on city/rural treated water, not well water. Not impressed. Not leaking yet, but assuming it's going to be totally trash eventually. Trying to find another filter.

Lots of plastic but does its job.

Installed in hot water line from conventional gas water heater. Aids in showing any sediment coming from heater and drains quickly. Bowl is yellow (as shown) but looks old. Drain and nipple are also plastic but work and are watertight.

This filter was exactly what I expected. I live on a well and the one I bought for the house works very well so I bought a second one for the shop.

I am buying this again

Great filter for hydronic hot water loops. The box has teflon tape in it. I knew better and used it. Both joints had a small drip during pressure test. Took the joints apart and used my normal tape like I should have and had no issues. A must have for any hot water heating loop that you want to properly treat.

Hi Howard! Rusco recommends this to be installed in the vertical position with the purge outlet pointing down whenever possible.
