Good item

The items both 1/2 inch and the 3/4 version are fine we founds that they did not do the job we found that installing a potable 2 gallon expansion tank on the main water line resolved the hammering immediately at a substantial cost saving

Great product

Our washing machine was hammering almost every pipe in the house, it sounded like someone was shaking the pipes. Installed these on the cold and the hot water supply lines, close to the machine, and all the issues have stopped. We can't hear ANY water hammering

Nice quality and super easy to install

It is just a sharkbite tee, and the expansion chamber, so very easy to install. Only took about 15 minutes.

The Perfect Soluction to My Proble,

The Sharkbite fittings took the copper pipe easily, and did not leak. I especially like the fact that the shock arrestor could be installed horizontilly. The shock arrestor solved my water hammer problem.

Super-easy Sharkbite, 80% effective

I have come to love Sharkbite couplings. I am not a pro plumber, but I can sweat copper pretty well. However, Sharkbite just make it sooooo easy. This is especially true if anything needs adjusting - Sharkbite couplings can be added, removed, rotated, etc. Its so easy that it is worth 3-4x the cost. This Hammer Arrestor is trivial to install. If you are having problems with water hammer, this is such a quick and easy fix its stupid not to just do it. However, it has not eliminated 100% of my water hammer, but it has reduced it 80-90%, and when there is hammer, it is much less dramatic. One note about install - if you want to add this into a run of existing pipe you may also want/need a U3016 3/4 Slip Coupling (or a standard sweat slip coupling if thats your thing.)

Easy to Install

I had recently added the pex piping to the existing copper piping to replace a shower. After the install a knock noise was noticed and the rep at the big box store had recommended a water hammer arrestor. I googled your site and purchased "2" 1/2" arrestors (one cold, one hot) It took me longer to gather my tools than it did to install. I immediately tested the shower and the noise was gone. I would highly recommend this as it definitely does what it says.

ASK A QUESTION

Q: I recently replaced my tangled web of cpvc plumbing with a home-run pex manifold distribution system. My hot water is serviced by a Navian on demand combi-unit that also heats my radiant floors. I am having a problem with water hammer from 1 particular fixture- a steam shower. The steam generator calls for a small amount of water, then shuts off quickly resulting in audible hammer throughout the system. The shockwaves cause the hot water service/radiant heat priority valve in the Navian to close resulting in cold showers. If I call for heat in the floors, the valve will re-open. Sounds like I need to install an arrestor. Am I better off installing at the end of the 1/2" line closest to the steam shower, or closer to the tankless hot water heater on the 3/4" line feeding my manifold, or both? It is a MANABLOC, and I am worried about the plastic valves getting damaged as well.

Put the shock arrestor as close as possible to the valve causing the hammer. All the water that is rushing towards the steam shower needs a place to slow down when the valve suddenly closes. FYI More modern valves on dish and clothes washers(etc) have "characterized" poppets that close more softly Lewis Kennedy

Q: Should the mechanism be installed on the main line comming into the manifold from the water heater or another location?

We would recommend that you install the part in the location you described.

Q: I have a problem with my lawn sprinkler system. Every time a zone shuts off there is a bang. I want to install a water arrestor and I know it has to be close to the source. Thatr isn't a problem. Here is my question. My sprinlers are fed with 3/4 inch copper and I want to add the arrestor to this. Can this 3/4 inch Sharkbite arrestor be sweat onto my 3/4 copper? It looks as though there are threaded fittings.

SharkBite fittings are neither threaded nor sweat. They push right onto copper, PEX, or CPVC without the need for any tools. Please refer to the following instructions for more information: http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1267479776397/27369_PROD_FILE.pdf

Q: I'm replacing my rotten copper system with this Pex tube and Sharkbite fittings. Need to find out where to use the water hammer fittings. There are no anti-hammer fittings in my current system. Are these necessary?

It is always a good idea to use a water hammer arrestor to absorb the shock and vibration in your system.
