I am filled two houses with these!!
Fabulous unit! I use this point of use for one shower. High temperatures can be reached using lower flow shower heads such as available from Bricor. I can achieve 140 degrees F output from the DHC-E 8-2 Plus using a 1.25 GPM shower head. I use a point of use Stiebel Eltron units throughout my house after full electrification, for my new house and prior house.

Probably one of the best purchases we've made for our home.
We replaced a 30-gallon gas water heater with this tiny point-of-use tankless electric heater. Electricians wired the heater to power on Monday, March 4th, and it is working great! We are using it to heat water for our kitchen and laundry room (we have a 40-gallon gas heater for the bathrooms). Our kitchen sink and dishwasher are only 10 ft. from the heater, the washing machine is right outside its closet. It takes no longer to get hot water than it did with the gas tank-type heater. A side benefit is that we now have considerable extra storage space in a closet that, for 59 years, has housed only a water heater. No noise, no pilots, no burners, continuous hot water for as long as we need it. NO regrets! SupplyHouse.com had the water heater on our doorstep in 4 days!!

Yes, in the 80's we had these in Germany. So Why did I need one here?
Well, the water heater is 75 feet from the kitchen and with 3/4" trunk lines it took 2 gallons of wasted water waiting to get hot. A recirculator (with insulated dedicated return line) is costly and not as energy efficient as a Point of Use heater.
So I plumbed this unit into the hot water line. This particular model features a display that indicates on the lower line of the display, when the incoming water temperature exceeds the set point. From then on, you are not using any electricity. (The main tank is an AO Smith Vertex high efficiency, natural gas water heater and all hot water lines are insulated).
The Stiebel-Eltron is simple to install; I used flexible supply lines that make it easy to clean the intake filter and I can connect them together in case I need to remove the unit for service, etc.
Been using it for a month and it makes zero noise. Hot water in the one second it takes to come out the faucet. You can adjust the set point with the knob. Simple. It displays in deg F or C and -- during setup -- you can set the max temp so errant small hands don't set the temp to scalding!
The most laborious part will be sourcing a 40A, 220 line. Lucky for me, I had an unused line available so my install cost was low, even including the Siemens 40A GFCI breaker.
The real test? The wife likes the design, easy to read display and the immediate hot water that saves endless frustration... not to mention the water savings.
Very nice product. Time will prove the reliability.
