The vent can be manually shut-off by means of an internal ball check.
almost all the way closed
Just enough to stop the water by hand
In my experience, "kinda tight". Not really tight, and not lightly tight, somewhere in between. That's vague I know, but remember that you need to be able to undo it as well.
It's an automatic vent. You can adjust it to change the speed of the venting and I had no problems with leaking.
It will vent automatically but you would normally keep it closed. You turn the nut that looks like a coin on top by hand to open or close it.
You can open the vent manually to bleed the system but under normal operation it vents automatically. The gasket in the vent swells when wet to prevent leakage and when dry because of trapped air it shrinks to automatically vent. I have 4 that have been installed for 5 years and they have never leaked.
The vent uses a cellulose disk which, when coming in contact with water, swells and prevents water from escaping. So, when the cellulose disk is dry, it allows air to escape until water comes in contact with it. It is completely automatic once installed and there are no problems with water leakage. Just make sure to install properly and open the valve enough to let air escape, but not so much that excess water will escape.
we had leakage problems and kept the cap tight. The cap can be tightened or loosen by hand
These vents have 1/8" thread on the bottom. They are normally used for connecting to an air scoop (e.g. pat 431-6) or a baseboard tee (e.g. part NLCBT-120212).
At the bottom of the page is a tab with manual click on that link and it will give you all the dimensions of the different models they sell. Looks like this was made to fit into a different Taco fitting. Not sure you can direct connect to the 3/4 fitting. If you can just get a 3/4 Tee or elbow with a vent fitting that fits the "a" dimension, in this case 1/8". Sent from my iPhone
It means it has 1/8" NPT thread if I am reading the specs right. You will need a bushing or some other fitting(s) to get up to your size.
This is the 3/4" brass 90 that you will need to use with the coin vent you are asking about. http://www.supplyhouse.com/Cello-NLCBT-120212-3-4-x-1-8-x-3-4-CxFxC-Baseboard-Tee-Lead-Free The 1/8" is the pipe thread size for the male thread on the coin vent.
