Description

Dry your clothes faster and prevent lint build up with the new Dryer Duct Booster.

Clothes dryers are often installed in areas of homes where they cannot work effectively. This is because moist air cannot effectively exit the dryer and exhaust to the outside -bogging down the entire drying process. If a dryer's vent run is over 25 equivalent feet* or the dryer is experiencing long drying time, your dryer may need a dryer booster fan. The Dryer Duct Booster can also reduce the potential fire hazard associated with lint buildup.

* When using equivalent feet a 90° elbow equals 5 feet and a 45° elbow equals 2.5 feet. Some dryers can exhaust beyond 25 equivalent feet without a booster fan.

Dryer Duct Booster Saves significant energy - reduces drying times 50% or more. Reduces lint build-up, dust & fire hazards by maintaining proper velocity in duct runs up to 150 equivalent feet. Features the Lint Blitzer material handling wheel & 5 year no-clog guarantee. 50 watt motor is not exposed to heat, lint or moisture. Includes 115 VAC cord - automatic operation. Suitable for gas and electric dryers.

The LB2 is Listed to the updated DEDPV, Dryer Exhaust Duct Power Ventilator supplement to UL705 & CSA C22.2 #113-12. The 2015 IRC restricts the use of dryer booster fans to those tested to the DEDPV supplement. Incorporating dryer booster fans in clothes dryer ducts has increased substantially with the placement of laundry rooms not adjacent to outside walls. Duct runs often exceed 25 equivalent feet (90 degree elbows equal 5 additional feet of duct length, 45 degree elbows equal 2.5 feet) that many clothing dryer manufacturers set as a maximum duct length. The LB2 booster fan is rated for duct lengths up to 150 equivalent feet.

Good product

I installed the LB2 booster fan and it was easy and works good. It's only been in for a few weeks. It kept running after the first full use and did not shut off. We unplugged it and cycled the dryer a few times and it seemed good. Then it happened again. After that I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it has been working properly ever since. So, I don't know what was wrong but it seems to have resolved itself. The indicator light is nice to have.

Basically a solid product, but with some annoying issues

This is basically a solid unit and I would give it 5 stars were it not for the assembly quality control issues they have not dealt with. A reviewer from five years ago notes that the thermistor was not wired properly and dealing with that issue cost him a couple of hours extra labor. Well they still have the same issue. I got the unit installed checked everything carefully and plugged it in. It ran for a few seconds and shut off, with the red status light indicating an overheat condition. Tjernlund tech support knew immediately it was the thermistor wiring. The fix was easy, and after the repair the unit worked as it should, and it works well. But my installation was in a location where I had to remove the unit to get at the electrical box – so I had to undo, and of course redo, my nicely taped up piping to be able to remove the unit and get at the electrical box. Another issue that is not major, but is annoying, is related to the status wallplate that has the green and red status indicator lights. They provide a label to put on the plate that has cutouts for the lights and text describing the light functions. If you look in the installation manual, at one time they also had cutouts for the screws that attach the plate to the wall box and provided white painted screws. Now they no longer have cutouts for the installation screws and provide plain zinc screws. I guess their concept is that the label goes on after the plate is installed and never needs to be removed, in which case it would be sleek look, with hidden screws. But when I called tech support, they said that I should first check to see it I wired the wall plate correctly, before checking the thermistor working. So I had to tear through the label, exposing the zinc screws, which created a sloppy look when I put it back on (it was wired correctly). Additionally some of the text goes over the lower screw hole, and is now unreadable.

Works exactly as promised

I am a mechanic by trade and have an abundance of tools. That being said installation was straight forward and fairly simple. Laundry is on the first floor. I mounted it in wall and exhausted through the second floor and roof. It is challenging to conceal a 10+" wide blower in a 2x6 wall but I got it done. Pay attention to the instructions and follow the min/max distances listed and you'll be ok. Do yourself a favor and add a switch (I mounted a switch right next to the led control panel) Wired the switch to the receptacle powering the blower. The blower needs initialized for the pressure switch to operate. If it has to be re-initialized, simply turn the switch of for a few seconds and back on to finish the process.

Dryer vent fan works well, after repairing mfg defect

Install and operation were good - significantly improved venting for my 25' dryer vent with eight 90 degree bends. But, it didn't work right away, and a call to Tjernlund customer support turns out to be a voice mailbox - and my call never returned. I took the unit apart and found a manufacturing assembly error - a thermister lead was not tightened into a terminal block, so easy to repair. Supplyhouse had no expertise with this product and could only recommend that I call Tjernlund. So in the end, all is well and the product works very well. Just cost an extra 2 hours that could have been saved by a better assembly process.

A very good product.

Worked perfectly to correct the issue of too much lint being left in the dryer vent due to the long run. The dryer also no longer complains of flow sense. If you've never installed a power vent, such as this LB2, it'll take some time. Measuring and cutting into the dryer vent line, then installing, is where you'll spend most of your time. If you're a home owner as myself, take it slow, measure as much as you need to, and you'll get it installed without any trouble. All in all, if you need a power vent for your dryer, this one is worth it. It's much better than the ones you'll find at the big box stores. Remember the old saying, you get what you pay for.

I would buy this product again.

We installed this unit on the dryer vent line due to the length of venting over 25 feet. works great and was easy to install 1.5 hours.

Hello Mick, thanks for writing in. Yes, this does come with a power cord which is a six foot 115 VAC power cord factory installed and pre-wired. It also has a pressure sensor on the control board. . The control monitors pressure and temperature within the duct to operate the booster fan in sync with the dryer and to stop booster fan operation if duct temperature is excessive or signal if the duct becomes blocked.
