The unit does not seal the dust from going onto the wall, I have added 2 clamps to keep it tight. The trap does not fit perfectly between existing walls, its stick out past the sheetrock approximately an inch to inch and a half. Bill
It can be mounted but didn't come with any screws and you would have to drill holes in the unit. It is a bit cumbersome but does a goo job. It does trap all of the lint that the dryer misses with a screen that is easily cleaned. I would buy it again. Sent from my iPad
Nothing leaks around the unit. The unit is a pass though design meaning a vent pipe is connected to dryer and the other end of that pipe is connected to the trap. Then an additional pipe is connected to the other side of the trap and that pipe is vented outside. It does a great job at catching lint but the screen inside the trap will require cleaning every 4-7 loads depending on material being dried, therefore it needs to be placed where you can access it easily. It has no screws in the box but you can just screw it to whatever you want. If you are capable of installing the pipe your capable of screwing it to the wall.
Unit works well, prevents lint from leaking into room The unit mounts on the vent pipe. No need to fasten to wall if pipe is rigid. No hardware is included.
I can tell you the filter box come's with a filter and fit's a 4" pipe, not sure about replacement parts. I installed my unit in November of 2011 and nothing has broken on it. Joe

The box is 8" deep and would stick out in to the room. It leaks a lot of lint and let's too much lint get through it. My roof gets covered. Good luck.
The box is a little over 7" deep and even if some of it sticks out of the wall, it would be a tight fit even in a 2" x 6" wall. So I guess the answer is no. I have mine mounted on the wall and it does help keep the duct from getting dirty for a much longer time.
You can use it: it's just a filter that sits in the duct run. But it may not be needed. The trap is designed to capture lint pulled up by fans placed within 15 feet of the dryer. Without a fan in place, there likely wouldn't be much lint making it up there.
