Furnace Control & Ignitor, KIT15816

Our Trane XV-95 started setting intermittent flame rollout or open limit switch codes. I had just replaced the inducer motor a couple weeks prior so I knew that was good. I did general maintenance as well; cleaned burners, cleaned condensate trap, etc. but still getting error codes. So I had a tech come out and diagnose it. He showed me that the circuit board was not providing enough voltage to the inducer motor. He said, even though I just replaced the motor, they always recommend replacing the motor and circuit board s a pair because one failing many times damages the other. He quoted $668 for an inducer motor and $892 for the circuit board! He then said this was one of the few things he tells consumers, with a bit of DIY ability, they can do themselves. Supply House made it easy to find the right board (an upgrade from a discontinued part) and got it to me in two days! I had the wiring all labeled and ready when the board showed up so it was a matter popping connectors and wires off the old and onto the new and matching the dip switch settings from the old board. Furnace fired right up first time and every time since! The inducer and an inline duct fan driven by the board both are noticeably stronger too.

In home it is the only one we could get fast enough. I do not know enough about furnace maintenance however I am not a big fan of that kind of heating system. I feel like in America that is the only way so we foreign people are stuck with what you offer. Does that mean it is the best ? I don't think it is very healthy. I wish there was a more simple way to heat your home , besides using a wood burner.
