After 19 years my 5SME39HL HY71 850/520 RPM ECM motor quit. Then the crazy process of trying to find an "exact" fit after all these years began. I landed at Supply House and found they had this replacement motor and specifically called out my Trane unit's model number. Ordered it from the Detroit area on the Friday afternoon when my A/C quit and it was delivered the next day on Saturday. As mentioned elsewhere, the shaft is 1/2" too short but with a little faith the fan blade set screw will land on the very end of the shaft and everything else about the motor went together just fine. No problems after several weeks of continuing summer heat. Would be an easy five star review all around but I'm still a little weary of the shorter shaft not fully engaging the fan blade collar so four stars seems fair.

Botched "next-day shipping"
I ordered an ECM condensor fan motor on a Monday. What arrived on Tuesday was a huge box containing two ducted ventilation fans. When I called customer support early on Wednesday, I was told that the correct item would be shipped to me that day for Thursday delivery. It was not. The shipping SNAFU continued, and the item wasn't shipped until Friday and didn't arrive until Monday. So one-day shipping was turned into one-week shipping by the utter incompetency of the shipping staff. I was quite inconvenienced by this.

Cool Again in the Nick of Time
The fan motor thus far has been working well. I noted that the shaft was a bit shorter than the OEM, But it works the same. The delivery was fast which I really appreciated since there was no ac and the temp was in the mid 90's. The one minor thing was that the fan is a bit louder than the original. I would purchase again anyway. I purchased the product 4/28/2026.

Shipping was extremely botched
I ordered a product and paid for next day delivery. The next day, wrong and completely unrelated products were delivered. The next day, I was told that the correct product would be shipped that day for next day delivery. It was not shiped that day. Instead, the correct product was shipped two days lated, and thje delivery of my "next day shipping" took place one week after my order. Just sloppy and unacceptable behavior.

After 19 years my 5SME39HL HY71 850/520 RPM ECM motor quit. Then the crazy process of trying to find an "exact" fit after all these years began. I landed at Supply House and found they had this replacement motor and specifically called out my Trane unit's model number. Ordered it from the Detroit area on the Friday afternoon when my A/C quit and it was delivered the next day on Saturday. As mentioned elsewhere, the shaft is 1/2" too short but with a little faith the fan blade set screw will land on the very end of the shaft and everything else about the motor went together just fine. No problems after several weeks of continuing summer heat. Would be an easy five star review all around but I'm still a little weary of the shorter shaft not fully engaging the fan blade collar so four stars seems fair.

Perfect Fit for Trane XL15i
Just slide the fan down the shaft a little and tighten the set screw and the screws from the motor will not touch the fan. Molex connector just plugged in. Had everything up and running very quick. Now the house is finally cool.
