Description

Uponor's WIPEX fittings are manufactured from a dezincification-resistant alloy, DZR brass, and are specifically designed for connecting 1" to 4" Uponor PEX tubing within the Ecoflex pre-insulated pipe system. The unique design of the WIPEX fitting features an eccentric outer sleeve for easier grip and an even force when inserting the tubing. The inner sleeve features a threaded profile and includes an o-ring to ensure a secure, tight seal.

WIPEX Fittings are used for all types of Uponor PEX-a (crosslinked polyethylene) tubing applications. DZR brass fittings are safe for direct burial in soil.

perfect part

Love how it locks in the PEX tubing. Hard to open up the outer ring. No leaking after instillation. Very happy with the product.

Pex to Copper fitting

Fittings worked great and were easy to install. All you need to do is purchase a female threaded copper fitting that you solder on any 1-1/2" copper pipe, then teflon threads on this fitting. Screw fitting into copper fitting nice and tight. Take off pex side collar, slide it onto pex pipe, slide pex pipe onto fitting, slide collar up tight to fitting, tighten bolt until there is no gap in collar. From solder to finish took approximately 10 minutes. Would be 5 if you didn't have to wait for copper to cool from soldering.

Great fitting, poor hardware

This fittings work great. I have installed 6 of the 1 1/4" in my current project. The ears on the compression collar are reassuring that the coupling won't come apart under pressure. The only drawback I found is that when trying to tighten the collars down to zero gap as per the instructions, the cheap bolts shear about half way there. I purchased a bunch of grade 8 stainless and everything worked as it should.

Q: will this fitting work on copper instead of pex

This fitting only works with PEX on the compression side, but you can use it to connect to copper on the threaded end by using a female threaded x copper adapter.

The fitting has 2 different ends to it. A threaded end and a crimping end. I assume you want to know if you can use the criming end to hook to copper? You can't because it will not be a sufficient union. I'm not sure why you would want to use this fitting to connect copper to copper. There is much easier and cheaper ways than to use this fitting if you are connecting copper to copper. This fitting is strictly for connecting copper(to the threaded side) and pex(crimping side).

No, The copper is not as thick as the PEX so it won't seal. Dirk

Yes, this fitting connects to hePEX and would not require any special tools. You can connect it to black pipe on the threaded end.

I assume you mean an iron coupling? This fitting will connect to just about any female threaded fitting. Although I wouldn't use PVC, CPVC, etc.
