Yes, it is battery operated also.
yes, it is compatable, you can set it to run single stage if needed, and you can run on battery power if needed but being an lcd touchscreen it will eat up batteries faster than a traditional thermostat.
Should be an easy change-out for you. Make sure you take note of which wires go to which terminals and match those up with the same terminals on the new thermostat. Also make sure you shut off power to the air handler/furnace before undertaking this otherwise you stand the chance of shorting out the low voltage transformer if you short or ground out the wires when moving them around. The Blue Humidity has no problem running on battery. It also is "power stealing" so it'll sip a little bit of power off the air handler's transformer via the cool/heat relays to extend battery life. You can disable the power stealing functions if need be. There are two downsides to not providing this thermostat with a common 24v line: 1) Backlight will only operate for 10 seconds at a time if on battery (continuous backlight is an option with hardwired power), 2) can't use remote sensors with the stat on battery as the sensors need 24v (fed from the thermostat) to operate. first question: I don't see why not. It would probably be an overkill to get something like this to control something simple. but it is your money and your reasons. 2nd question Yes this unit can operate on battery power only.
Javier, While this seems to be a question for White-Rodgers I will tell you that I had a very old thermostat from 1976 that was a White-Rodgers and was not even close to a digital. I could never really tell where it was set as it was a lever. style. When i contacted them they suggested my current thermostat which I am very happy with. I honestly think my electric bills have been reduced because the digital allows me to know the exact setting. I have the 1F95-1291 Humidity Control Touchscreen Thermostat. I did have my A/C guy install and program it as it seemed a little complex but I couldn't be happier with it. I thought it was a little pricey at first and then I realized it's value. Those cheap thermostats don't even come close. I suggest you contact White-Rodgers as I found them to be very helpful. Hope this helps. Betty
In regards to the question first in installer setup of the white Rodgers big Blu stat you are able to set it up for single stage. Also in regards to the question of battery operation yes the big blu is compatible with battery operation but it does limit the capabilities of the remote sensor indoor/or outdoor. The fan can be programmed. See page 11 in the manual ( http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1249544587127/White_Rodgers_1F95-1291_Instructions.pdf ) for instructions.
Yes. When programming dayparts, you can program the Fan to be Auto or ON.
No There is a programmable feature that runs the fan for 10 minutes and then it is off for 20 minutes. This feature is activated if one hour has elapsed without a call for heat from the thermostat. I am not using this feature because I have my air handler programed to run an low flow when fan position is in the "on" on the thermostat. I leave the fan in the "on" position and run it 24/7 in this mode.
That is true according to the manufacturer, but the thermostat must be on and set to either heat or cool.
Yes, this thermostat can replace the White Rodgers model number 1F79.
