Bought 2; Not a whole house filter, NOT for boilers
I bought two of these - We have a newer well and our shower heads kept getting clogged with sand so I bought one to go after our well pressure tank. The filter clogs weekly because there's very little surface area and the pore size is small. It filters well until it clogs. If the pore size were bigger so the finest sediment could pass, or if there were more filter surface area, then this would work well.
Second filter - this is NOT for hot water. I installed this in our wood boiler loop hoping to keep sediment from accumulating in the heat exchangers. The boiler temp hit 200 degrees, the plastic threads melted, the filter cup blew off the brass body, and I lost 60 gallons of water from our boiler loop into our basement. Pay attention to the max temp - it's only 100 degrees F. Cold water only.
2 stars because I just don't know where you'd actually use this. Maybe polishing up the water if you already have a whole house filter? Big inlet and outlet, but really tight pore size and small filter element, so although the flow rate is high initially, it drops to near zero after the filter gets clogged which happens quickly with the tight mesh.

I'm not sure yet
I have radiant heat in a 100 year old house. And the water pipes match the age. I installed an inline screen and trap , however it still let fine particulates through, and ruined the diaphragm in my pressure reducing valve. So I installed the filter just before the PRV. We will see how it goes. But I can tell you this much. I was very impressed with how my purchase transaction went. Smooth as glass.
