Comments about Automatic air vent with built-in shutoff valve:

I bought this vent to replace the old one that had a seal fail and leak everywhere. Installation was simple and straightforward. There was some leakage around the red knob at the top for the first several hours, but that eventually went away and the product is working well now.

Comments about Automatic air vent with built-in shutoff valve:

I like this automatic air vent, very easy to switch to the off position when needing a clean. Seems to work much better than the other automatic air valved it replaced. Placed it on the boiler, and it went to work right away, the previous other brand automatic air vent it replaced wasn't as effective in removing air for some reason.

Works as expected. We'll see if it needs replaced in a year or two as I did with the less expensive vents.

The old one lasted 27 years. It was simple to replace - I am a 57 year old female with not much boiler experience and it went on like a charm and went right to work for me.

IE.. if it is a float, how does it prevent the situation of lower system pressure than atmospheric? In the case of a system leak or negative pressure condition, can the vent allow air to enter?

The water enters the body of the vent and lifts the float when all of the air is gone. If the system loses pressure and water drains from the vent assembly, the float drops and allows air to enter.
