This valve was exactly what we needed to fix our hydronic system. It's a good quality at a great price. We checked around and this was the best deal. We also received it quickly.

Just a heads up, the item that they shipped is not the same as the item pictured, the flanges are different, they're larger. The item shipped is even different than what's on the manufacturers website. See attached photo.

About eight years ago I installed an AM-1 mixing valve in my home's radiant floor heating system (after a competitive valve's failure), and it has worked flawlessly since then, holds temperature well. Also installed one in my daughter's system five years ago with the same result. Excellent product, highly recommended.

                                                    Q:

I have one of these feeding a radiant floor loop - but despite having primary loop temp of 170 or so, the most this seems to kick out is about 100. However, I am speculating that my flow rate is not adequate (1 3/8" pex loop). I don't know what that flow rate is. I have two other valves on air handlers where they appear to work just fine.

                                                      Hi,
It is very possible that the flow rate is too small to adequately mix and control the temperature, also usually there is a possibility that the internal cartridge may not be good any longer.

We had a similar problem, check the following:
                                                      1. Look for obstructions, debris in the line. The opening is
extremely small in the valve. Almost anything can clog it, reducing flow
                                                      and loop temp.
                                                      2. Do you have a leak somewhere down line? Are you making up water?
                                                      3. Do you have a Y-strainer, is it clean. Do not rely on just opening
up the drain on the bottom, the screen could be clogged and not allow flow
                                                      past.
                                                      Hope this helps.

Mixing valves that are designed for heating systems generally have higher temperature ranges than ones designed for domestic hot water plumbing. Since heating mixing valves also do not carry the necessary approval codes for use with potable water, we would not recommend using them in such applications.
