Comments about 80 Series Programmable, 2H/2C, Digital Thermostat:

These work great useful for several applications really like the dual control for heat and air, also the ability to lock the thermostat to keep others from changing the temperature.

Not The Best Quality

By GusHerb

from Chicago

Comments about 80 Series Programmable, 2H/2C, Digital Thermostat:

The first one I purchased was bad out of the box, when the continuous display light was set to on it would try to freeze you out and run the room 5 degrees colder then what you had the thermostat set to. I returned it and had another shipped out promptly.

I received the new one which appeared to be reading the temperature like it should, but something still seems a little off about it. I may have to get back later on that (if they allow you to edit your reviews later on)

The White-Rodgers 80 series thermostats have been known to be very reliable and solid as a rock...I just don't see that quality in the 1F85-277.

Other then my issues with quality control I still feel that this is thermostat gives you a good amount of features for the price you pay, installer set up isn't too hard, installation is a breeze for a person experienced in HVAC like me, and overall use isn't complicated but their may be a slight learning curve for novices.

      A:

I have installed this thermostat on both single stage and dual electric heat
and both conventional a/c and heat pumps. Follow manufacturer's
instructions as to what wire goes where and from there it is a matter
      programming for your preferences.

I'm not sure. I used it on a gas furnace / AC combination. You can see the installation instructions at the white Rodgers website if that helps.

    Q:

How do I stop 80 serIes from flashing?
Asked on 6/9/2012 by LorrChase from Il.

    2 answers

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

I am not sure when or how long the display is flashing, but if you have the
compressor lockout mode enabled and lose power momentarily or swap from
heating to cooling the compressor will not restart for 5 minutes and the
display flashes meanwhile. Just an idea.

The setpoint temperature flashes when compressor time delay is enabled. Please refer to the manual linked below for more information and alternative solutions.

How do I override the programing and simply set a temperature I want it to run at
Asked on 3/17/2012 by Glyn from Clearwater,fl

Inside the little door at the bottom press the "HOLD" button, this stops all set programming indefinitely until you press "RUN"

      A:

      Manual Operation
Permanent Program Override (HOLD) - With the SYSTEM
button set to HEAT or COOL, set to the desired temperature, then
press the HOLD button once and release. "HOLD" will be displayed.
The thermostat will hold the room temperature at
the selected setting until you press RUN button to start program
      operation again.

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

I believe you use the hold function.
With the run function the thermostat will maintain the temperature according to the programming.
With the hold function the thermostat will maintain the temperature according to a single temperature
      you enter.

To program press the "PRGM" button and cycle through the day of the week and time of day to set each setpoint. You may need to put eh thermostat in "Heat" or "Cool" mode as each mode has different setpoints. To cancel a manual setpoint press "RUN" You can also get the original instructions at this site http://www.emersonclimate.com/en-US/products/thermostats/Pages/thermostats.aspx
