Voltage, or volts, is a measurement of the difference between two electric fields (in heating terms, the difference between the Earth's electrical field and the electricity running through your wires).
Slow-opening Thermal Actuator (24VAC) mounts directly onto 1 1/4" Brass and truFLOW Valved Manifolds. It provides individual loop flow control on a multi-zoned manifold (manifold serving more than one zone). Thermal Actuator includes end switch for activation of relay (pump), heat plant or other auxiliary devices. Do not mount actuators upside down.

My house is 13+ years old and my radiant heat was not working like we wanted. I had replaced an old Wirsbo A3020522 back in 2008. I have 13 total actuators and I ended up buying 7 new Uponor A3010522 units. I used to have a handyman business so I tackled this project. If you can mark wires and change one unit and one wire at a time this project will go smoothly and be a major improvement over the old units. I was amazed at how easy it is to install the unit and verify it works. There was no adjusting needed for the valves. Now my system works so much better. I had 8 old units that were either frozen in open and mostly shut positions. I saved at least a $1000 doing this. I still have 5 of the old units but they are working. When it is time I will be back to buy them here (cannot beat the price, delivery and service)! Excellent product from an excellent company!

My in-floor radiant heating system uses 13 valve actuators. In 11 years of service, 3 motorized actuators have failed. Apparently the mechanical zone valves get sticky and the valve actuators exert a lot of force to open them. All of the motorized valve actuators in my system have failed because the plastic parts on the actuator are too weak and they break. I have not used the new style thermal actuators yet and I am somewhat apprehensive that because they are all plastic, that they too will break if they have to exert a lot of force on a sticky valve. There are no alternative devices, so I guess we have to use the new design actuator. At least they are less costly than the old style. I hope to be pleasantly surprised and the new ones will hold up for a long time.

Simple and easy
from Edgewood, NM
Replaced our older motorized actuators with these. Very simple, and they appear well made.
Hassle free direct replacement
from Albuquerque NM
This electric valve has the same color coded wiring and thread size as the original. No additional adaptor was needed. I'm glad I order an extra, considering my two mana folds have about 16 valves . Works great so far.
Simply wonderful! Replaced all 20 of my Wirsbo junk actuators with these and I am asking my self why I didnt do this earlier. Simply easy install!SupplyHouse is awesome too, in stock and at the steps in no time. These guys are the Bomb!
Does the trick
from Thunder Bay. Canada.
Works as intended.
Easier to install
from Arlington, WA
My installation was in close quarters, the new units fit better with no interference. Hopefully the new design won't fail as readily os previous actuators.
Thermal Actuator, 4 wire worked great

fine replacement for faulty valve on my in floor heating system.
Thermal Actuator replaceing mechanical
By DIY Homeowner
from Glenwood, MN
Product arrived on time and well packaged. It was easy to install in just a few minutes. It works as well or better than the mechanical actuators and appears to be working verticle, at 90 degrees or upside down, which was a concern of mine as my manifolds do not all accommodate a vertical installation. Great job shipping, I will be ordering more in the future as my mechanical actuators fail. Thank you.
Exactly what I needed
from Santa Fe New Mexico
This item worked perfectly, just make sure you buy the plastic nut that screw onto the manifold. The picture does not display this. Luckily I thought about this when ordering. It was an extra 2 bucks or so.
By Hydronics Guy
from Bainbridge, OH
Replaced all 9 actuators from the "No Name" ones that came with the hydronic manifold. End switch is much better than the old ones (2 wire), which ran the circ pump while actuator is opening (roughly 5 minutes of wasted electricity each cycle. These open quicker, save the pump, and Wirsbo has been around a while. This is second season and nary a problem.
