This is not an 8x8 register
In the HVAC world, 8 x 8 has a very specific meaning. It means that the opening size for the grill is 8" x 8". This in fact has a round connection to connect directly to ductwork. It's not an 8 x 8, it's an 8 inch diameter grill with damper. It's a really good 8 inch diameter grill with damper, but it's not 8 x 8.
