In 1986 while working as a plumber for the gas company that leased gas water heaters I'd replace approximately three or four leaking water heaters daily, it was impossible to describe the water damage that had been done to people's property. The damage spanned from wet-vac minimal to full ceiling, walls, and hardwood teardowns; apartments, basements, and main floor living areas - all affected. In these costly disasters, the property owner would always ask the same general question - “Is there anything or any way to avoid this disaster from happening again?” and the answer was NO! Finding a solution became our mission, and a no-hassle water shut-off device on water heaters became a concept that needed to be explored. The first unnamed prototype was completed in late 1997, and performed the water flow shut off task exactly as planned. The WAGS Valve prevents disastrous floods and untold damage to your property, and avoids costly insurance claims. The WAGS Valve is designed to shut off the water supply (plus gas supply for gas-fired heaters) in the event of a water leak from a hot water heater.
