Description

Please Note: PEX tubing is unstable under UV light. To ensure the long term stability of PEX, care must be taken to avoid overexposing the product to sunlight, both before and after the time of installation.

Bluefin PEX-b pipe is produced with crosslinked polyethylene. Crosslinking is obtained through a chemical process that increases the bonds between macromolecules to form a more complex structure than the normal polyethylene. Due to the crosslinking, the polyethylene's performance is greatly enhanced and maintains the excellent properties of thermoplastics. Offering excellent corrosion resistance, incredible flexibility and unusual toughness, Bluefin PEX-b pipe allows for fast and easy installation.

Good Product and Easy to work with.

Pricing is higher that some on the internet...may want to work on pricing. Good product and SupplyHouse.com is an awesome company to deal with!!

Most Liked Negative Review

No

The Bluefin PEX is very stiff and will not relax from being coiled. That becomes an issue between un-support horizontal spans where you want to maintain a slope to be able to drain the line completely. It might be acceptable in other applications, but not for this one. I am sending it back. The PEX-A Uponor (Wirsbo) is far easier to work with and that is what we will be using from this point on.

Great Product

I use this while doing repairs on RVs. Only thing I don't like is that it does not like to straighten out when cold. Leave it in the sun for a bit and it is much easier to work with.

This size is a terrible, terrible product

The 1" pex b is incredibly stiff and not appropriately thermoplastic. It retains the memory of the coil even after being straightened and eventually curls again. Even after applying heat with a heat gun. Very disappointed.

Q: I would like to insulate my Pex hot water lines. Also I would like to insulate the hot water Oxygen barrier lines. Do you sell the insulation? Or should I use the standard insulation (foam) that is sold at the box home improvement stores?

We would recommend that you use the K-Flex Thermacel Insulation found here: http://www.pexsupply.com/Nomaco-K-Flex-58C-6-Thermacel-Insulation-for-1-2-Pipe-5-8-x-1-2-5650000-p

Q: Whats the difference between the PEX with the oxygen barrier and the ones without it? Would it be better to use the one with the oxygen barrier for plumbing?

It is better to use PEX without the oxygen barrier for plumbing. The PEX we carry that has an oxygen barrier is not NSF approved for plumbing applications.

Q: Can heat tape be used over aqua pex tubing to insulate this tubing in crawl space in a cold area(usually temperature below 32 degrees F)?

The use of heat tape is allowed with PEX products provided the product has automatic thermostatic control capability and the temperature does not exceed the maximum rating listed on the tubing. Heat tape should be wrapped around the tubing and secured with zip or cable ties, not tape; then insulated with closed cell pipe insulation.
