Great Radiator, Bad Documentation

We purchased 1 of these to check it out. I have 2 more on order now. We ordered the angle valve and 1/2 pex compression fittings. The good: *Great looking *Easy to mount to wall *Simple plumbing connection The not so good: Terrible documentation. Considering that Pex Supply makes great videos, I would suggest that they create their own documentation based on an actual installation and provide it to the customers. Certain aspects of the radiator were not even mentioned in the instructions. For example, on one side of the radiator, at the top are two sliding tabs. Why these are there is unknown. Even Buderus tech support could not tell me. Also, reversing the unit, so that the tstat is on the left, was not covered. *The top grid is held on with plastic tabs. They look cheap. *Order early- Between the factory order and shipping via freight, it takes a while for delivery.

Damaged Buderus panels as a result of inadequate packaging

I ordered 7 Buderus panels and the bulk of them came in damaged. Supply House simply inserts these heavy Buderus panels into a cardboard box with little packaging material. The panels are too heavy to be shipped via UPS without proper packaging. Total nightmare to have Supply House re send new panels and then package damaged panels for return. Burderus is a good product but these need to be shipped via freight and on a pallet. Demand a freight shipment and do not accept UPS.

Yes

The product is awesome, but the shipping was no good. The valve and the bleeder should be dismantled from the radiator prior to shipping because it came in dented, even the second time.

Good and Bad

Good: Provides good heat. Bad: I used a Home Run plumbing connection. W 2gal per minute pump. The regulator only allowed about 1/2 gal per minute. System backed up. I removed the regulator to allow adequate flow. Needed more documentation

Great customer service, bad delivery

Product looks great when it comes without damage. I think due to the weight it was damaged 3 out of 3 times during shipping. I had ordered smaller units and had no issues with their arrival. Ultimately I settled on the unit that had the least amount of damage because I needed to get the radiator installed and the customer was getting upset and settled for the minor damage on the unit. Customer service was amazing, very helpful and made a not great situation better.

Worth it

They look better, take up less space, and put out more heat than a hydronic base board. Just be sure to check the diagrams online as there is an inlet and outlet and the adjustment can be kind of tricky to figure out.

Great product

The small compact size. It can be a bit noisy somewhat, as another person who uses it said it was a little noisy for him to deep with.

Poor packaging, great customer service

Received and returned 3 different radiators all damaged in the same spot ( adjustment valve handle snapped off and valve body damaged) packaging needs to be improved ( cardboard sleeve over adjustment handle no packing foam on the ends where it was damaged) ended up returning the radiator and opted for a refund to source one locally

ASK A QUESTION

Q: Do I need to order a cover for the valve insert (flow setter valve) or does the radiator come with it? From the pictures it looks like a cover is required for the flow setter valve.

Hi Tony! There is no cover for the flow setter valves. When the radiators are shipped they have a protective plastic cap on them that some people mistake for permanent covers or spare parts but they are not. Even if a new flow setter was ordered the cap would not be on it. It's only placed on the radiator at the plant to protect the flow setter.

Yes. Adding or removing anything from a system could potentially throw off system balance.

Q: In reference to the in and out fittings of the radiator being on the right side of the radiator, is there a designated front and back? Can the "back" be facing the room so that the fittings are now on the left side?

Q: where are the supply and return lines located on this model

Buderus panel radiators have piping connections located at the bottom of the panel which minimizes the exposed distribution piping creating a more attractive room appearance. The radiators can be piped as a standard 2-pipe (supply/return) system, on a monoflow-loop, or as a one-pipe series-loop by installing an optional diverting valve

Q: Does this include everything I need to connect to my 3/4" copper stub? (i.e the R20 to 3/4 copper pipe fittings)

You have to buy the adaptors. If your stub out is coming from the wall, then will want to get the R20's that are on a 90 degree angle. Also, you can't hook up these panels directly to the flow of the loop. You have to use a mono-flow T system, so some of the water pressure bypasses the radiator and some goes through it. If don't do it this way, the water flow noise will be so loud you won't be able stand it. Oh, also if you need to get this job done in a timely manner, forget about it, expect long waiting (2-3months once)on ordering these panels from Pexsupply.
