Expect to replace in 5 years

They are great when they work. Not so great when they fail due to an internal design flaw. Do not expect them to last 5 years.

Only if I have too

I use these in my 6 zone Caleffi manifold. In 5 years Ive had 3 of the 5 fail internally. The small plastic ears that pull the actuator up, all failed, turning into a useless maraca. In the end the actuator shows green, indicating its open and its actually closed. It seems to be a clear design flaw. It also seems to be acceptable failure rate to the mfg and distributor. I guess it was more acceptable when you could get them for half the current price. I would not recommend these..

Replacement product; Easy to find and install

Easy to find replacement actuators for my underfloor heating system. I feel like I paid a fair price for them. Shipping was fast and there was plenty of "how to" content on the website to help me make sure I installed them correctly.

Works as expected

Shipped quickly, installed easily and works fine. Even better than the original actuators due to the green indicator line to tell when valve is open. Kudos to SupplyHouse customer support too because one of the units came without the threaded snap ring in the box and they replaced it quickly.

Q: Can this be installed in an upside down position in a situation where the Pex radiant loops are coming down from above and the supply and return manifold rails are mounted horizontally?

The actuator would function upside down, however the 656304 would be a better choice as it is water tight and would be protected from any possible leaks or drips.

Q: What is the difference between this model and the one with Auxiliary Micro Switch?

The auxiliary switch has an additional two wires to be used as an end switch, typically turning on the boiler or a circulator pump.
