Description

RN Series 4EC-3 Inline Radon Fan is designed for use with 3" schedule 40 PVC pipe.

Rn4EC-3Radon Fan is the most powerful product on the market for active radon mitigation applications where high suction and high flow are required. It is an excellent solution for high radon levels, poor sub-slab communication, multiple suction points and/or large sub slab footprint.

Features:

  • Designed specifically for Active Soil Depressurization (ASD) mitigation applications
  • High Suction, High Flow
  • Dial your suction in with a built-in speed control
  • Two soft anti-vibration couplers included
  • Set up for a 3" PVC pipe
  • For residential and commercial applications
  • Air-tight housing - zero leakage
  • UV resistant plastic housing
  • UL Listed for safety and outdoor use
  • HVI certified fan performance
  • 5-year factory warranty

Rn4EC-3 can create 4.75" of suction while moving 20 cfm, or moving from 125 to 200 cfm when operating at only 0.5" of suction.

Inherently efficient and operationally stable at full and reduced speeds, Rn 4EC-3 fan arms the radon professional with installation methods not previously practical. Integrated control system allows for "dialing in" the fan speed necessary to achieve either the required sub-slab depressurization or required system air flow rate.

Manufactured from two molded plastic pieces seamlessly joined together. It is inherently and permanently airtight ensuring no Radon gas leakage. A large watertight electrical wiring enclosure ensures electrical installation quick and simple. Fan motor is thermal overload protected with automatic reset and can be installed both indoors or outdoors. Two anti-vibration couplers are included with the fan.

Adjustable speed is a must for activating passive systems

After installing this product in a 3" passive riser, the fan speed was adjusted for 1.0 inch WC on the basement manometer. When an AC current probe was clipped onto the supply lead, the current read 89 mA. The fan was drawing only 10.2 W. The radon levels at the farthest point from the suction point in a separate basement room measured 5.8 pCi/L at startup. I watched the radon levels in the house on two digital radon monitors for two weeks, a Pro4 and a Corentium. Over that time period I observed the radon concentration drop to as low as 0.51 pCi/L when some drainage trenches had been opened up in the yard. Once backfilled, the radon levels rose to 1 pCi/L. The increase was a combination of soil disruption and thermal stacking in the house. That prompted me to increase the static pressure to 2 inches WC. The fan is now running at 250 mA or 28.75W. The radon level is now below 1 pCi/L, but I will continue to monitor the radon concentrations in hope of reducing the static pressure and fan current. The concrete cracks and seams in the basement are well sealed as are the load bearing wall bottom plates through which nails are driven into the concrete. This is an excellent fan for the homeowner or professional It provides a means to reduce the fan's speed in order to reduce conditioned air loss. It also provides a means to assess whether or not additional suction points may be required which might be the case for our home. This fan has plenty of reserve in the event that an additional suction point is required.

No, I wouldn't purchase this again

The radon fan was, and still is, advertised as having 555 PSI pressure. When I got the fan it's label said 212 PSI. This is below the pressure I need. Then, when I ask to return it, they wouldn't pay for shipping. Shipping cost about 25% of the cost of the fan.

Great product - Radon Problem resolved

Our 3,000 ft2 unfinished basement radon reading ranged from 15.0 to as much as 32.0, and the reading in our main level living areas was over 9.0 I installed the FanTech RN4EC fan based on reviews from other installers. Within 2 days, the reading in the unfinished basement fell to 2.8 and has remained there for the past ten (10) days. In the main living area the reading has been consistently below 1.0 over the past week. I would highly recommend SupplyHouse, as there service is extremely responsive. Everything was delivered as scheduled, and the need to return one item was approved within 24 items. Great job! There were other alternative fans available online (some at a much lower price), but the FanTech eliminated all the complexity of selecting and installing the new system due to the flexibility to adjust flow and suction. It is extremely quiet with no vibration. I have already recommended it to another homeowner looking to replace his current fan.

Great adjustable speed fan

I installed this in my basement to supplement the passive radon system and it has dropped my readings to practically nothing. The fan was very easy to install with some street elbows and a standard electrical gland. I have it running at medium speed and the sound is pretty minimal. I definitely recommend it.

Great unit!

I have a 1300 sqft finished basement, with 150 ft of perimeter drainage system.. Radon level was 12-15 daily average! Without going back into the drywall yet to seal the Clean Space liner at the cactus board- therefore pulling air in from the walls, this fan pulled it down to .27 - .6 ! The average reading is .37! Betting on zero if I seal the walls!

Good product and works quietly

I like that the fan is bigger so that I can run it more slowly and still get enough suction. This makes the basement quieter. Being able to adjust the speed is nice. The couplings on the ends of the fan work great but if you need replacements, know that the fan has a nonstandard coupling size so look for a 5" clay coupling. That will have a 6 inch inner diameter on the coupling which will match the approx 6" outer diameter of the fan ports. You can buy those on this website, too. You'll need a waterproof conduit for the connection to your power. This is an easy job to do.
