Description

Note: This model has no defrost and is not recommended for climates that experience freezing conditions for long periods.

Energy Recovery Ventilators are complete whole house ventilation systems that incorporate a supply motor and an exhaust motor in one unit. The supply motor draws fresh air in from the outside and the exhaust motor pushes stale contaminated air out. The two air streams are separated by a core. The enthalpic core of the ERV transfers heat and moisture from the incoming air to the outgoing air. The air brought into the living area is cooled and the humidity is reduced for maximum comfort. The load on your air conditioner is less and you save on cooling costs. Energy Recovery Ventilators are designed for warmer, humid climates with longer cooling seasons.

5 Year Report

I've had me SE704N installed for 5 years now. (Supplyhouse STILL has the best price I found!) It's been quietly removing radon from my basement 24/7 all this time. In the winter I switch it to an 18 hour cycle so it shuts down during the cold Maine nights. I agree that the airflow through a single grille can seem noisy, but since it's in my basement I don't mind or I'd re-plumb it to more grilles. The intake motor developed a constant noise this year, so I finally removed it, cleaned all the bug guts off the blade and managed to get some out of the motor housing itself. It's better, but still noticeable. I recommend cleaning the intake fan every 2-3 years. It's not simple, but not that hard with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver.

works well

works well, heat exchanger doesn't work as well as hoped. Just make sure you use as many exhaust ports as fresh air ports or it will be noisy

So far, so good

I installed this little unit as a ventilator to reduce the stale air in my basement without freezing the place in winter. It's quiet, extremely simple, and seems to do a good job of pre-warming the intake air with the exhaust.
