If y ou mean can you make it a motorized damper for a 8 inch duct yes it will work but you can buy one for ac cheaper. keith
I'm sure you can.
The OVD works very well at closing the flue to an oil fired device after sufficient time for cooling the flue, thus clearing CO gas from the furnace.. That said I do not believe that bypassing any of the automated function would be wise. The OVD prevents inside air from passing through the furnace and cooling the refractory and waterside between firings, or in my case when using a heat exchanger to heat the boiler water with a vented wood or coal fired boiler/furnace.
The normal close time on the OVD-7 is three minutes, which is a fixed time and cannot be adjusted.
It will close after 2 minutes - to clear the combustion gases from the boiler. Read my review that I just submitted - 9/16/2011.
Approximately 3 minutes to trigger close. Actually close takes 3-4 seconds to rotate the damper 90°. It's timed by a capacitor, according to the installation manual.
The manual says 12 minutes the first time to allow capacitors to charge, 3 minutes after that. Mine seems to do about 3 minutes, but I don't remember the initial operation.
Installation manual says 3 mins. Observation seems to agree
Yes, as long as the appliance is a 120V controlled appliance and the SWG unit has a 120V control kit such as the CK-61, CK-62, or CK-63.
The manufacturer does not recommend using this product in Sub Zero applications.
