UV-Aire uses the energy from a specially designed, high-intensity UV-C lamp to reduce microorganisms in the entire home as they cycle through the HVAC system. Mounted inside the ductwork, the UV-Aire sterilizes or kills most contaminants as they pass the lamp.

Indoor Air Treatment With UV
UV’s effectiveness in killing bacteria is directly related to a microorganism’s exposure time. Indoor air in a typical residential forced-air HVAC system will be recirculated 40-75 times a day. With a UV generating lamp mounted in the HVAC duct, cumulative exposure can be very effective in controlling indoor bacteria.
UV rays will also kill germs that breed in drain pans and A-coils. Properly positioned, an ultraviolet system can significantly reduce indoor air contamination and prevent the growth of new microorganisms.
The treatment of indoor air with ultraviolet radiation has been successful in health care facilities, food processing plants, schools, laboratories and other applications. It is safe, silent, and proven.
Since direct exposure to UV light can cause skin cancer and blindness, the most practical application of UV light in the home or office is in the main air distribution (heating and/or air conditioning) system. As UV light will not pass through metal, glass, or plastic, a UV light can be installed in the main supply or return duct of a central heating or air system without concern for direct exposure to eyes or skin. This is an ideal location since the air in the home or office will pass through the HVAC system up to 75 times per day during normal operation, and as many as 150 times per day in continuous fan mode.

Installation
- 1. Insert the unit downstream from an A-coil in the supply plenum or downstream from the air filter in the return plenum. Mount base on duct using the enclosed mounting screws.
- 2. Insert lamp through hole. Place bracket over end of tube and tighten wing nut.
- 3. Replace cover on unit and tighten side screw.
- 4. Plug into 120V outlet & place rocker switch in “ON” position.
- 5. Switch will illuminate & blue glow can be seen through view port when unit is operating properly.

Easy
So far so good. This was very easy to install. I liked the fact that I could angle this light to cover more area. The instructions where really straight forward for the install but it was really self explanatory. This unit was a little high compared to some other models but I liked the bulb on this more than the U tube type. They seem to have more problems. They ship a metal plate that the light can go on but is not needed if you dont have any insulation on the duct work. Now for the question of does it make a difference in indoor air quality....? Well not really sure. There are really no scientific evidence preformed on it that I ha e seen. All is known is that uv kills bacteria and you have a lot of that on the ac side along with when someone is sick. I remember in my indoor air class the teacher was very insistant that it works. With all the legionella problems going on with standing water it cant hurt. Now you could buy a better filter for the furnace, but that will not stop bacteria growth on the A coil. That is why I got it. I am a stationary engineer and this is my profession. We do have them at work in some of our units but still cant say for sure how well it works. My house suffers from mold allergies and that is why I got it. I feel like it makes a difference. But cant say if it is that or the weather change. Seeing as we live in Illinois it changes every hour. Between me installing a media filter and the uv I'm hoping this will help us breath better in the house.

I finally refunded customer and sent this junk back to hopefully be recycled into something useful like a paper weight. Sad because it used to be a good product. Tech support said they switched to a different ballast. Save a dime, lose a dollar.

UV Aire HVAC Purification System
Installed for a 20 year replacement on our HVAC system this unit purifies and kills the germs as the air is circulated in the house. We have hooked up this unit to go on when the system is running and will shut off when not running. This helps us knowing the air in a closed house is germ free from the HVAC house unit.

UV Light works great!
Product is working fine. A eems to be helping with seasonal allergies because my daughter is not sneezing when she comes to our house and my eyes are not itching as much anymore. My wife also says the air smells cleaner. Installation was not difficult. So far, it's great!
