Pete, You should contact Grundfos directly for those questions, as one of their technicians will be the best contact to help you out.
Yes, the pump should never run without water and cause the pump to fail. A professional should come and diagnose whether the full pump needs to be replaced or not.
The UPS26-99FC is a 3 speed pump as well (sku 52722512) and has a range of 0-33 GPM and 0-29 FT of Head. So that does seem to be a possibility to replace the UPS15-58FC but compare the pumps curves to see if the ranges fit what is needed for the application.
This pump is flanged, with available flange options of 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2". The flanges are purchased separately as they are based on the pipe size. So the 1" flanges would have to be purchased separately, sku is 519602.
Yes, it will they both use a standard oval 2 bolt flange.
The bearings cannot be replaced. Only the cartridge assembly (part 526062), flange gasket (part 510179), and terminal strip kit (part 525277) are listed as replacement parts.
Grundfos Pumps Corporation (Grundfos) are warranted to the original user only to be free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of 24 months from date of installation, but not more than 30 months from date of manufacture.
We would recommend using the o-ring type gasket.
You can use this pump for chilled water. Its temperature range is 32°F-230°F.
