Pipe flange determines pipe size. Pump is installed on whatever flange you needd JHP from my S3
Flange match, not the pipe. I have hydronic heat and the local plumbers don't stock the pump. So it is no heat and then at least twice the Internet price for the pump when they get it. I just keep one in stock. Pat Artis Sent from my iPad
It is not neccessary to specify pipe size. Most flanges will fit this pump. -PrecisionMan
Cast iron circulators like this one should only be used where there will be no fresh oxygen present (i.e. the closed-loop side of the heat exchanger).
The pump curve displayed on page 3 of the manual linked below shows the flow rate capabilities of this circulator at various head pressure ratings for each of the 3 speeds. The check valve may not be necessary in this application, as its primary purpose is to prevent heat from flowing to zones that are not calling for heat. We would, however, recommend a bronze or stainless steel circulator in an open system. http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1297872762860/47830_PROD_FILE.pdf
Cast iron will rust in an open system.
There is a switch on the side of the circulator that allows you to select among the three speed settings.
This pump will accommodate 5 zones. For information on speeds, consult the flow chart on page 3 of the product specifications: http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1297872762860/47830_PROD_FILE.pdf
The flow chart is clear...to an engineer, but tells a layman nothing.
