20" x 14" (Wall Opening Size) White Sidewall/Ceiling Return Air Filter Grille (673 Series)

Wanted to replace an old fixed hinge grille with the same. When researching this grille I mistakenly thought it was also a fixed hinge type; it isn't. This unit is a hook type hinge where the louvre piece is separate from the frame and is attached by hooking the two hooked hinge areas of the louvre into the two frame areas that accept the hooked hinges and then closed by latching with two latches. I was bummed at first that the hinges weren't fixed and it seemed a bit cheeseball. The advantage of course, as stated in the description, is that it easily can be removed and cleaned when necessary; I obviously couldn't do that with the fixed hinge type. Once installed, I really love the clean look on the ceiling. It is lightweight as you would expect as it is simply a grille and doesn't serve any structural purpose. When you release the two latches, the louver piece hangs nicely off the frame enabling the changing of the 1" deep filter it accepts. It is solid enough to look nice and be functional. The frame has metal tabs that are to be bent out slightly to provide tension on the filter so the filter will stay put when installed. Some complain of damage upon receipt; I can see how this could occur as they are fragile in a sense. They do come packaged very well in a cardboard frame -within- a cardboard box marked "Fragile." I purchase two 20 x 20 grilles and they were both perfect upon receipt. I recommend this product with no reservations.

This product is made from a very thin and cheap metal. The first one I received was too bent to use and had to be replaced. The second one was also bent, but by that time, I was tired of dealing with the exchanges, so I forced it to work. I would never buy a product from this manufacturer again.
