If I ever needed again.

The product arrived promptly and in good condition. Unfortunately, the item will be returned this week. It's not longer needed. My A/C technician told me that I don't need dehumidistat because my air conditioner was functioning appropriately.

Would buy again

I needed a new humidistat to replace the old one. Two choices in color and I choose white to match new tstat. Only issue in installation was wire length. Old unit had wires two inches longer so I had to add length in order to install. Works great, fast service and price was much better than local supply house

works great. simple and easy to use.

I use 14 of these in commercial cannabis grow rooms. They work great, and simple to use. I've replaced more expensive units with these, with great results.

The perfect complement of any thermostat.

The installation is easy in parallel with the thermostat and in South Florida it's a must. It needs a couple of days to settle on the range of humidity one feels comfy with. They (Honeywell) should incorporate this function in the WiFi thermostat: the technology exist. It's the will to do it that is missing.

Easy remote humidistat solution

I bought the product so my dehumidifier in the attic would respond to humidity levels in living area. The dehumidifier was already on a light switch so substituting the device for the switch was simple. The device seems to measure humidity as higher than it is, but setting it high works. Tab on mounting plate does not line up with device.

It could, verify electrical specs of the fan compared to the limits of the dehumidistat.

These units are functionally the same. The old H46C1000 was beige while the H46C1166 is white in color.

Q: Is this a reliable humidistat to interface with my home thermostat and air conditioner? Also, why is it called a Dehumidistat and not a Humidistat?

A dehumidistat is designed for applications where you are trying to dehumidify, or take humidity out of the air. You would need a humidistat (such as H46E1013) if you are trying to increase humidity.

Dan, This Honeywell De-humidistat is used with your thermostat and air conditioner. It is used to prevent the air conditioning from operating when the humidity level in the house does not exceed the set point of the De-humidistat. The difference between a humidistat and de-humidistat is as follows: First of all they are both switches that open and close based on humidity levels. A de-humidistat switch closes when the humidity level exceeds the set point thus when used with an air conditioner it allows the air conditioner to operate in the home and it not only cools the house but de-humdify's it as well. A Humidistat is used to operate a humidifier on a furnace heating system. This switch works opposite of the de-humidistat. When the set point of a humidistat is achieved the switch opens thus turning off the humidifier. I have this de-humidistat interfaced with my air conditioning unit in Florida. It helps to avoid my running the A/C unit when I am not there and prevents any mold problems from being encountered. The only way my A/C operates is if the humidity level in my home exceeds the set point of the de-humidisat. Generally, Honeywell recommends setting the humidity level at 60%. Hope this helps with your decision to purchase.

A dehumidistat makes contact on a rise in humidity and a humidistat k contact on a fall in space humidity. So the answer depends on if you want to add moisture or reduce it. Best regards, Charlie Pickett DMCA, Inc. ***.****

Q: I wanted to use this product to control a fan in my basement. I was under the impression that the switch would turn on in high humidity and off in low humidity. But after receiving the product and checking with the ohm meter I discovered that it's the opposite, is this true or am I missing something?.

I had mine installed to work with the thermostat & whole house AC, when I'm not living in the house located in Florida. In your case I would use the one with the plug & plug adaptor that uses house current to control your fan. I'm not a electric or AC person but I understand the dehumitastat works with low or regular house current. I suggest you get in touch with Honeywell & ask one of there people.

This switch closes when the humidity exceeds the set point. It is open when the humidity level is below the set point. What is the voltage of the fan you are trying to control? Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry ÂÂÂ

I forgot to ask you the model number of your dehumidistat. You should be using a Honeywell H46C1166 from Pex Supply for 33.59 each to accomplish what you are trying to do. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry ÂÂÂ
