This unit does NOT have internal light
The image shows the screen lit up but in fact this unit does not have an internal light. You need a flashlight if you want to adjust the temperature at night.

Fancy design, not so with practicality
I have four of these thermostats at home and just bought another one to replace a unit where display started missing symbols. Overall, this thermostat is not bad and 25% loss over 10 years due to quality nowadays seems to be acceptable. The thermostat looks sleek, but has three usability issues. Firstly, it doesn't have on/off button. I live in a climate where spring and fall usually don't require thermostat settings, so controlling it by oversetting or undersetting the temprature is a little unnerving. Secondly, replacing the battery requires an involved ritual of unscrewing thermostat from the mounting pad, peeling it off the wall, accessing the compartment behind the faceplate, and then mounting it back the same complex way. Not very user friendly. Lastly, for all its fanciness, it doesn't show humidity, which I have seen less fancy thermostats do. These thermostats came with the house, but if I were to buy some myself, I would look for something different based on the issues I described.

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffLoosen the captive screw holding the faceplate to the mounting plate. Pull the lower part to separate the faceplate from the mounting plate. You should now have access to the batteries for replacement.
