UV light magic!!

Works like a charm in removing musty odors, from a 1940's remodeled house we took on. I installed (30 minutes) in the return duct, with the 24 v transformer, and the UV light did its job. Excellent product!!!!!!

Seems to do the job, installed it myself

I installed it myself onto the AC/furnace in the basement. The first time turning it on, the UV lamp didn't come on. There was voltage from the transformer I installed and from the ballast. Supply House sent me another unit and I replaced the filter/lamp part inside the ducting. The lamp lit up up nice and bright then, and persistent mold smell from the ducts has pretty much disappeared along with complaints from the wife. This is heating season. I'll see how it works in the heat and humidity of summer, but I expect no problems. To install, I first put in an electrical box with an outlet plug in the electrical line that goes to the furnace from the electrical panel. Then into that I plugged a lamp cord that runs to a 8x8x6 electrical box, bought from a local supply house, that I screwed onto the return duct. In the box I installed the 24V transformer, also from Supply House (SKU: PF4031OEM Brand: Packard). There, I attached the wires to the included ballast which was screwed onto the duct just below the metal box. Wires from the ballast ran to the UV lamp unit installed externally into the duct just above the A coil. It took a couple of hours to do, with adding an electrical outlet and putting the transformer into a box to keep the 115V wiring safely out of reach. The hardest thing was cutting the metal ductwork to install the lamp, since it was old, very thick metal, and my tin snips weren't very good. A jig saw with a hack saw blade would have worked much faster and cleaner. You definitely can do it yourself if you plan out what you're going to do and have the cutting tool, drill/screwdriver, and any additional electrical parts needed for your particular situation. There's a YouTube video of someone installing this Honeywell unit that gives you an idea of what's involved. The most uncertainty I had about doing it was where to install the lamp, not knowing much about the HVAC unit's internal configuration. But Internet research explained where things are, simple.

Buy again

As an engineer and a physician, I have found nearly ALL these "air purifiers" have overhyped, purely unsubstantiated flimsy "research" backing up use of their particular product. After careful research of many of these (expensive, highly overpriced, contractor favorite $$$) "gadgets", comes Honeywell which is low on phony "hype", and merely cites bacteriocidal data for its 2400U5000 unit for a variety of pathogens tested. Claims of magical improvements in air quality (always SUBJECTIVE PERSONAL ONES) cited by other gadgets are happily missing with Honeywell products. Don't waste money on more expensive ones.

I have been meaning to do this for years

First I have a large home. I installed the light over the evaporation coil. I know UVC does what it says it will do. But in a review I cannot say I have data that there is a noticeable difference. With that said I still recommend this product. As far as installing...make sure you have a good hole saw. I used a cheap hole saw and the install took longer than anticipated. Also cut your opening on the outside of the lines.

I would buy this again.

I installed this product the first time and the light only worked for about six hours. when I checked the light it was like an orange colors and that seamed odd due to the fact that I saw all the advertisement it looked blue. I called the company and they ere so accommodating and sent me a replacement, understanding the problem I was having. I installed the new unit and it is working great. by the way the lite is blue. and the service rep. was fantastic on the phone. it was great doing business with her.

So far so good

This was very easy to install as long as you're a little handy. I've had it in for about 3 weeks. I don't notice a huge change but I was note looking for the uv light keeping us healthier.
