old house
I used this 1/2 " X 3/8" OD brass compression union to install a new sink faucet in my sons old house. It have 3/8" copper coming through the floor, I did not wanted to cut the floor so this was my solution. The 1/2" OD side of the union fit over the 3/8" copper (1/2" OD), and then I removed 3/8" side compression cap and ferrule and connected the hose coming from the faucet directly to the union.

Mitch - Brass compression fittings are definitely not designed to work with Pex. When working in Pex, stick to Pex fittings.
