The Laars-Stor SS utilizes a superior grade of type 444 passivated stainless steel for the tank and the heat transfer coil. This construction is lightweight and also resists pitting while minimizing inter-granular and stress corrosion. The Laars-Stor SS models provide superior thermal conductivity for higher efficiency.
Features:
- Stainless Steel Tank and Heat Exchanger - Made from chromium molybdenum - titanium ferritic 444 stainless steel alloy.
- Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger - Single-wall 1" (25mm) O.D. stainless steel coil. Maximum supply temperature from the boiler must not exceed 240°F (116°C).
- Factory Installed Sediment Reducing Inlet Tube - Sediment reducing device that also increases first hour rating of hot water while minimizing temperature build-up in tank (excluding LS-SS-120-L).
- Immersed Adjustable Honeywell Aquastat - Supplied with a fast acting immersion aquastat for automatic temperature control (adjustable from 80-160°F / 27-71°C).
- Supply and Return Connections - 1" NPT female connections are located on the front for both the boiler supply and boiler return.
- Insulation System - 2" (51 mm) Non-CFC foam insulation covers the sides and top of the tank, reducing heat loss. This results in less energy consumption, improved efficiencies, and jacket rigidity.
- Potable Water Connections - 3/4" NPT (1" NPT on LS-SS-120-L).
- T&P Relief Valve - Included.
- Low Restrictive Brass Drain Valve - Durable tamper proof design (excluding the LS-SS-120-L).
- AHRI Certified - These water heaters are rated by the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute to provide accurate performance data within the standards of the certification. This certification provides a recognized standard for proper comparison of hydronic appliances

Update for Chloride Water Conditions
Second heater has failed in 3 months. 2 heaters in 5 months. Not a good option for chlorides in the water even with the special stainless alloy. May be a good unit for normal water conditions but so would any other stainless tank basically.

Unit Failed After 3 months
Unit began leaking after 3 months. Can't recommend it now even though it could have been a fluke. Be aware of all warranty procedures before purchasing.

Overall good product
Straight forward install. Good Honeywell mechanical bulb type aquastat. Some slight shipping or factory damage that was concealed. Will know what to look for next time with minimal unboxing at delivery as i had to transport to job site. This unit is made from a rare alloy that stands up to chlorides in the water. (444 Stainless) This steel is used in production settings where brine mixtures are used such as piping and tanks. Most stainless tanks are 316 Stainless which is a good general purpose alloy. Stone lined tanks are out due to weight and the jury is still out on the new all plastic tanks. This was my best option.

i would buy this item again
The product did come in with some shipping damage. Not enough to turn it down, 5 or 6 surface dents. I don't think it started from the factory, but in route. Also, the thermostat was default and I am working with the warranty to replacement. The replacement dept was a little hard to work with. When the replacement comes in I will be satisfied.
