Off To A Good Start

Yesterday I finally got to put my new pump to use thanks to all the downpours my neck of the woods has been receiving. I only need it for pumping excessive water out of my pool in the summer months and off of the cover over fall/winter/spring. It did an excellent job of getting the job done and the water level down to normal even as it continued to rain. This one replaced an exact same one that after a couple of years started leaking oil. Hopefully this one will last longer. Prior to the leaky one I had one that lasted a good 8 to 10 years.

Not sure what to do

I've been using this exact pump for nearly 40 years for an outside water fountain. They generally last a few years each. In recent years, the pumps have only been lasting a few months and, not having changed anything about their use, I can't figure how to address the problem. So there's definitely a problem with these pumps these days, but SupplyHouse staff has been EXCELLENT in honoring the warranty for them. I've put their staff to a lot of trouble replacing pumps under warranty recently in my attempts to solve this problem. Thank you for the quick service!

A good pump for descaling tankless water heaters

I used this pump to descale my tankless water heater. It was perfect for the job--ran for an hour and a half. I knew the descaling was working fromthe light blue color of the vinegar.

Great product for swimming pool winter covers

I use this pump to pump off the excess water from my swimming pool cover. I use this in conjunction with an Amazon enable electrical device that allows me to remove the water any time by just asking Alexa to turn on the pool pump!

Little Giant Pump

The BEST submersible pump at a good price. We have a hydroponics business and this pump does it all for us in 5 separate reservoirs that operate 24/7/365..

I had another Little Giant pump for years that broke.

I use the pump for my pool cover and I needed it fast. Supply House had the best price. I called, spoke to a representative, and it came the next day. Loved the service and the pump works great!

Q: What type of oil is used in a little giant 505000 pump?

From the product Literature, "... the motor housing is filled with a dielectric lubricant at the factory for optimum motor heat transfer and lifetime lubrication of the bearings. Use of any other lubricant could cause damage and void the warranty. This lubricant is non-toxic; however, if it escapes the motor housing, it should be removed from the surface quickly by placing newspapers or other absorbent material on the water surface to soak it up, so aquatic life is undisturbed."

This is an enclosed pump. You do not have to put oil in it.

According to Little Giant the pump cannot be laid sideways for operation. They suggest looking at the 566409 as an alternative.

This unit will go down to 1/8" so it must have at least that much for it to do anything at all.
