This is a manual model, it should not be left on without water.
From the product Literature, "... the motor housing is filled with a dielectric lubricant at the factory for optimum motor heat transfer and lifetime lubrication of the bearings. Use of any other lubricant could cause damage and void the warranty. This lubricant is non-toxic; however, if it escapes the motor housing, it should be removed from the surface quickly by placing newspapers or other absorbent material on the water surface to soak it up, so aquatic life is undisturbed."
This is an enclosed pump. You do not have to put oil in it.
According to Little Giant the pump cannot be laid sideways for operation. They suggest looking at the 566409 as an alternative.
I believe so but never tried it. Sent from my iPhone
This unit will go down to 1/8" so it must have at least that much for it to do anything at all.
The Pump it is running good, we use to turned on 3 to 4 hrs 4 days a week 6 hrs on sanday's.
1/8 of an inch according to the specifications (I probably wouldn't let it get that low though....)
