Most Liked Positive Review

This is my second unit.

First unit is 15 years old. The pump still works like new but the remote switch finally stopped working due to internal corrosion. I removed the switch and base plate and retired it to pumping out the hot tub. In case of a power outage during the winter do not allow it to "freeze in". I believe the old pump will outlive me.

Not made for Northern climates

I had the motor seize on a previous pump after about 2-3 years of use. You cannot leave this product on your pool cover in colder weather. Also, the automatic shut off stopped working after about a year. When working the pump does a good job.

I have used it yet ,but tested it out. better than lugging water in bucket when you have a flooded basement.

This model is great.

This is the model that came with the pool cover when we built the pool in 2001. Worked like a champ til it didn't. Another Little Giant model came with the pool cover I bought in 2015, and was, in my opinion, merely adequate and last year when we got tons of rain, was hardly that. Only when I closed the pool this year and I commented that I wish the Little Giant we had was still being made, he said it was. Eureka moment. Got it, it works and I'm happy.

Very good pump

Last one lasted 20 years. This one is identical except for the switching mechanism that turns pump on and off depending on water level. Initially switching mechanism would not turn on pump. I spoke to little giant customer service. They instructed me to pull pump out of water and suck several times on the clear plastic short tube on the 110volt plug that acts as a switch to detect water level. That worked! Pump has been problem free.....

Great pump

I've tried other pumps trying to save a few bucks, wasn't worth it. I did have a problem once but the company stood behind their product and warranty. Supplyhouse.com was awesome with their costumer service.

This was an exact replacement for one I had for 15 years

The power cord broke at the insertion point other wise the pump was still operating. The cord broke so close to the body I couldn't make a repair.

Q: what kind of oil is inside the pump

From the product Literature, "This pump does not require lubrication inside the motor enclosure. The motor housing is filled at the factory with a dielectric oil for motor heat transfer, and lifetime lubrication of the bearings. Use of any other oil could cause damage and will void the warranty. If oil escapes from the enclosure, disconnect power to the pump and remove pump from application."

Q: Can this pump sit in frozen water and not be damaged ?

No this pump should not sit in water where freezing conditions may occur. Freezing water may result in rupture to the pump and/or switch enclosure, and could result in a possible electrical short.
