Much easier than replacing the whole exhaust fan
The motor in my bathroom exhaust fan died. I didn't want to replace the entire unit so I did a Google search for parts for my model number fan and that's how I found the motor on SupplyHouse.com. The motor was a direct replacement with no modification necessary.

Not a direct replacement
Bought this motor as a "direct replacement" for the Nutone lr12645
It is not a direct replacement to the bathroom vent fan it replaces. It spins in the opposite direction, which required bending the original aluminum fan blades in the opposite direction. As well, the shaft diameter on the replacement motor is larger which required drilling the aluminum fan hole out to 1/4". As well it is shorter than the original Nutone fan, which required standing the motor off with shims on the mounting bracket to insure it fit up into the the fan housing to pull air. And this motor doesn't spin at the same RPMs as the original motor, which makes it less efficient.
Other than that it plugged into the 110V outlet just fine. It reeks of disappointment, and hopefully I can find a better replacement.

Works fine, not as powerful as what is was meant to replace
The motor works fine and was delivered promptly. But it was not as powerful as the motor it was meant to replace. Therefore I still need to buy another motor or an entirely new fan.

Shaft for fan needs revision to work properly.
The unit replaced the old original, however, the shaft for the fan is not the same. The shaft requires a small step to limit the depth seating of the fan, or else, the fan falls all the way down and hits the motor. I was able to install a metal washer (~1/16"), then a nut (~5/16"), then another same washer , so to add the space required for the fan clearance to the motor. Also, this motor has open case areas (perhaps for heat dissipation?), but the open area will allow dust to enter inside the motor -- the original mot was completely sealed. Finally, it would be appreciated if the press-on fan retainer (washer-type) would have been included for the shaft to retain the fan (the previous one almost always gets damaged upon removal). Otherwise, I have made it fit and works A-OK.

exactly what I needed at the best price
I replaced a failed motor from a 20-year old NuTone bathroom exhaust fan unit. this was a factory motor at the best price I could find online. The customer service person helped make sure I had the exact replacement part. it was an easy swap, just be careful when removing the plastic fan. Supply house included the blower wheel/plastic fan part number to save me time if I damaged it when removing the fan from the drive motor spindle. be sure to pry along the spindle to slide to fan off the end of the shaft. if you try to pull the fan off you will probably need that blower wheel part number and another $12.

Was not the exact specifications of the original part.
It needed to be modified to function within the fan housing. After modification it worked but very poorly. We ended up buying an exact replica of the original directly from NuTone.
