The PL-68 is much more than just an effluent filter. The housing can also be used as an inlet baffle (tee) or, with any 4" outlet septic tank filter. The housing is designed to accept Polylok's snap in gas deflector to deflect gas bubbles away from the tee and to keep the solids in the tank. The PL-68 is ideal for residential waste flows up to 800 GPD.

Use only if necessary.
Gasket is stiff and difficult to reverse bend, so it takes substantial force to remove the filter. The piping must be very securely anchored. Definitely a problem for long cantilevered pipe reaching to a manhole, or cemented in place "straddle baffles" over tank partitions. Removing and inserting the filter by septic pumpers not inclined to be gentile or under a watchful eye, could cause expensive system damage. On the plus side, it does seem to be a good filter, but the manhandling issues are a major concern.
